Career Growth for Developers is Tough Here
If you're looking to learn on your own, it's okay, but don't expect a clear path up the ladder as a Software Engineer here. Growth is largely self-driven.
You can definitely learn a lot if you're proactive. There's a decent amount of project variety in software development here. As a Software Engineer, I got to work on different digital products, which broadened my skill set.
Formal career paths aren't really clear for developer roles. Promotion opportunities feel pretty limited at this mid-sized tech company in Singapore. There isn't much of a training budget, so self-learning is key for career growth.
Management should really work on defining clear career progression for technical roles. Investing in employee training would also help a lot with retention.
