Great Place for Learning and Collaboration

I've been working at Astro as a Software Engineer for a couple of years now, and overall, it's been a really positive experience. The company culture is quite supportive, and I've learned a ton. It's a solid mid-sized tech company if you're looking for stability and a good team environment.

Pros

I really appreciate the collaborative atmosphere here at Astro. My team, other software engineers included, is always willing to help out, which is fantastic for learning new tech stacks. There are plenty of opportunities for professional development, and the overall company culture emphasizes growth. I also value the work flexibility for a hybrid work setup, which helps with work-life balance.

Cons

Sometimes the approval processes can feel a bit slow, especially for larger projects or when we're trying to push updates quickly. Also, while there are career development paths, the promotion process for a Software Engineer can feel a little drawn out compared to other companies in the tech industry. Compensation could also be more competitive in the Austin, TX market.

Advice to Management

Focus on streamlining some of the internal approval workflows to empower teams more. Also, review the compensation structure, especially for experienced engineering roles, to stay competitive within the technology sector and retain top talent.

Great Place to Learn and Grow in Media Tech
Pros: As a Junior Software Engineer at Astro, I've loved the supportive company culture and the learning opportunities in media tech. My colleagues are fantastic mentors. The hybrid work model in Kuala Lumpur provides great flexibility and helps maintain a solid work-life balance. It's a stable environment where collaboration is key.
Cons: Career growth can feel a bit slow, and sometimes internal approval processes for new tech take longer than ideal. While benefits are standard, compensation isn't particularly competitive for the industry, which can be a drawback for long-term planning.
