Position Overview
We are looking for a junior AI Developer to join our AI development team in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.
This is not a traditional software developer role. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience or strong project exposure in AI application development, such as LLM applications, RAG, AI chatbots, agent workflows, tool calling, embedding search, NLP, machine learning, or AI automation.
The candidate does not need to be an AI expert, but should be able to clearly explain what they have built, how it works, and what technical challenges they addressed.
Our team works on AI solutions and digital products within the Marketing and Sales domain. We are looking for someone who is curious, hands-on, willing to understand business processes, and able to grow quickly.
Key Responsibilities
AI Application Development
- Develop and enhance AI-powered applications, including LLM applications, chatbots, RAG solutions, AI agents, and automation workflows.
- Support the design and implementation of agent workflows, tool calling, prompt engineering, embedding search, and knowledge retrieval.
- Translate business requirements into practical AI solutions and technical designs.
- Experiment with new AI technologies, frameworks, and approaches to solve business challenges.
Data Preparation and Analysis
- Gather, clean, transform, and preprocess data for AI development and evaluation.
- Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, data quality issues, and meaningful insights.
- Prepare datasets and evaluation cases for AI model testing and solution validation.
Implementation and Integration
- Integrate AI models and services into applications and backend systems.
- Develop Python-based services, APIs, data pipelines, and supporting backend components.
- Connect AI applications with databases, knowledge sources, business systems, and external tools.
- Support solution deployment, configuration, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
Testing and Validation
- Test and validate AI solutions to ensure accuracy, reliability, scalability, and performance.
- Monitor AI application and model performance and recommend improvements.
- Help identify issues related to data quality, retrieval quality, prompts, system integration, and user experience.
Product and Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with product managers, business stakeholders, software engineers, data specialists, and China-based teams.
- Participate in requirement discussions, solution design, product design, technical reviews, and delivery follow-up.
- Ask clear questions, communicate technical topics effectively, and proactively follow up on open issues.
- Develop an understanding of Marketing and Sales business processes to deliver practical and valuable AI solutions.
Documentation
- Document AI workflows, architecture, technical specifications, APIs, deployment processes, and operating procedures.
- Prepare technical guides, user manuals, and knowledge-transfer materials for implemented solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Hands-on AI development experience through employment, internship, academic research, or personal projects.
- Exposure to one or more of the following areas:
- LLM applications
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation
- AI chatbots or assistants
- AI agents and agent workflows
- Tool calling and workflow automation
- Embedding and semantic search
- NLP or machine learning
- Good programming foundation, especially in Python.
- Ability to clearly explain the architecture, implementation, and personal contribution of previous projects.
- Good communication, collaboration, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to learn unfamiliar business processes and grow quickly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with backend development, REST APIs, databases, cloud services, or data pipelines.
- Familiarity with common AI or machine learning frameworks and LLM development tools.
- Experience integrating AI capabilities into applications or production environments.
- Understanding of software engineering practices, including Git, testing, debugging, and technical documentation.
- Mandarin Chinese communication skills are strongly preferred, as the role will collaborate frequently with China-based teams.
