Position Summary
The Payroll Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing end‑to‑end U.S. payroll operations for a large and dynamic organization, including a high‑volume salaried non‑exempt workforce. Supporting a 24/7 manufacturing environment and a workforce of 1,500+ employees, this role ensures payroll is processed accurately, timely, and in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
As a trusted strategic partner to HR, Finance, and IT, the Payroll Manager will drive operational excellence by implementing process improvements, enhancing payroll systems and reporting capabilities, and strengthening internal controls. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Payroll Leadership & Execution
- Lead end-to-end payroll for US operations for salaried exempt and non-exempt employees pay cycles. Including expat assignment pay
- Ensure accurate calculation and processing of wages, bonuses, deductions, and benefits.
- Oversee payroll calendar, approvals, and distribution of pay in alignment with organizational policies.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure payroll practices comply with federal, state, and local labor laws, wage and hour regulations, and tax requirements.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and, in partnership with corporate payroll, implement necessary updates to payroll processes and systems.
- Prepare and file payroll tax reports and ensure timely remittance of payroll taxes and other statutory payments.
Tracking, Reporting & Analytics
- Track payroll metrics including headcount, labor costs, overtime, and tax liabilities.
- Maintain accurate records of payroll transactions, audits, and reconciliations.
- Develop and deliver regular and ad hoc payroll reports for HR, Finance, and executive leadership.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation, analysis, and reconciliations.
System Management & Data Integrity
- Implement Time & Attendance and Badge In/Out systems and processes.
- Oversee payroll systems and ensure integration with HRIS, timekeeping, and financial platforms.
- Collaborate with IT and HRIS teams to resolve system issues and implement enhancements.
- Collaborate with Corporate Payroll to ensure alignment and seamless execution.
- Ensure data accuracy, security, and confidentiality across all payroll records.
Process Optimization & Team Leadership
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Develop and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and documentation.
- Lead and mentor others and foster a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field.
- 7+ years of progressive payroll experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior management role.
- Experience managing payroll for a large salaried non-exempt population in a complex organizational structure.
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, SAP, Paycom) and timekeeping platforms.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with payroll reporting and analytics.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage sensitive data.
- Experience managing payroll in a 24/7, high-volume, multi-shift environment.
- Experience supporting payroll for organizations with 1,000+ employees.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with badge In/Out systems, processes and tools.
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification.
- Experience in a manufacturing, technology payroll environment.
- Familiarity with union agreements, labor laws, and payroll compliance standards.
Location:
This role will initially work in our Tempe, AZ, Global Headquarters location but will later transition to our new factory location in Peoria, AZ.
