Decent place, but pay could be better

I worked here for a bit as a Junior Software Engineer. It's a pretty standard IT solutions company in Manila. The team was great, but the compensation wasn't always cutting it.

Pros

They offer a pretty solid benefits package for a mid-sized corporate setup, which is nice. Health insurance kicks in fast, and there are some decent team events. As a Junior Software Engineer, I felt like I learned a lot here.

Cons

The base salary for my Junior Software Engineer role felt low, especially for the Manila IT solutions market. Raises were super rare, and bonuses weren't guaranteed. It's hard to feel properly compensated.

Advice to Management

Really look at the market rates for IT solutions professionals in Manila. Better base salaries would help a lot with retention for your key roles.

Leadership is a mixed bag here
Pros: For an IT Support Specialist, the team is really supportive, and you learn a lot about various IT solutions. There's good job security too, especially if you're working onsite in Manila.
Cons: Leadership often seems disconnected from daily operations. They don't always listen to feedback from the ground level, which can be frustrating. Decision-making can feel slow and bureaucratic.
Advice to Management: Listen more to your frontline IT Support Specialists. Improve communication and decision-making processes. Be more transparent with company goals.

Culture is okay, but team can feel isolated.
Pros: The team here, especially within the software development department, is pretty solid. Everyone helps each other out when you're stuck on a tricky IT solution. You get a sense of camaraderie in the Manila office, which is a big plus.
Cons: Work-life balance here isn't great, especially for a Junior Software Engineer. There's often pressure to work late, which impacts personal time. Communication from management about company goals feels a bit lacking too.
Advice to Management: Leadership should really focus on improving work-life balance and setting clearer expectations. Better communication from the top would help foster a more positive overall company culture.

Okay balance, but watch the deadlines.
Pros: I've been able to enjoy the hybrid work setup. It helps a lot as a Software Engineer. Colleagues are generally supportive, which makes the daily grind easier.
Cons: Project demands in this IT services industry often mean longer hours. Sometimes you're stuck doing overtime, especially with tight deadlines for clients in the Quezon City office. Full remote isn't really an option for my team.
Advice to Management: Try to manage client expectations better so teams aren't always scrambling. More predictable workloads would really help.
