Decent team, but corporate culture is tough

Avis Philippines has its ups and downs. The people you work with are often great, but the overall corporate culture and management style can be a challenge. It's a pretty standard job in the car rental industry.

Pros

I've met some really good people working here as a Rental Sales Agent. The team in the Manila office is usually supportive, which makes the day-to-day bearable. It's a solid place to learn the basics of the car rental industry.

Cons

The company culture itself can be pretty demanding, honestly. There's a lot of pressure from upper management, and it feels like targets are sometimes unrealistic. It's not the most modern corporate environment; things can feel a bit old-school.

Advice to Management

Try to listen more to the ground-level employees. Rethink those high targets and update your approach to employee well-being. A more modern corporate environment would help retention.

Leadership: Some Good, Some Not So Much
Pros: Some managers here really get it, especially in our Manila office. They try to support their car rental agents and offer decent advice when you need it. It’s good to have a few leaders who genuinely care about the team.
Cons: The leadership really isn't consistent. One day you have a supportive supervisor, the next it’s micromanagement, which is tough for customer service representatives. Plus, upper management doesn't communicate well about the vehicle fleet changes or company direction in this corporate setup.
Advice to Management: Standardize manager training across all branches. Improve communication channels from upper management down to the frontline staff. Your people in the car rental industry need clear direction.

Leadership's okay, but better communication needed
Pros: My direct supervisors are genuinely supportive. As a Rental Sales Agent, they're always there to help with tough customer service situations. It's a solid place for entry-level roles in the car rental industry, especially if you're just starting out in Manila.
Cons: The bigger issue is that upper management feels really disconnected. There's not much clear guidance for career growth, which is tough. You sometimes feel like just a number in a big corporate setting, not a person.
Advice to Management: Try to bridge the gap between upper management and frontline staff. More check-ins and listening sessions would make a big difference for morale and understanding daily operations in the fleet management.

Career growth is tough for us onsite roles
Pros: The team in the Manila office is super friendly, which makes the long shifts better. You get solid experience in customer service and basic fleet management for entry-level positions.
Cons: Career growth for us Rental Agent roles is really slow. There aren't many opportunities to move up or even get new training. It feels like a dead end after a while, with not much chance to advance in the corporate structure.
Advice to Management: Management needs to create clearer paths for advancement. Offer training or internal promotions. It would really help with employee retention for us onsite staff.
