Okay Place, But Culture Needs Work

It's a mixed bag working here. The core advanced manufacturing work is interesting, but the company culture can be tough for some roles, especially as a Manufacturing Engineer.

Pros

You get to work on cool industrial automation projects. There are some really smart people here, especially in engineering. Plus, the onsite work in the Detroit office means you build good relationships.

Cons

The culture can feel a bit old-school sometimes. It's not always open to new ideas, which is tough for innovation. Team collaboration isn't always a priority, affecting production flow.

Advice to Management

Try to encourage more open communication and really listen to new ideas from all levels. A more modern approach to company culture would help a lot with retention.

Manufacturing Engineer

Okay flexibility for manufacturing roles, not great.
Pros: You can usually adjust your start and end times a bit, which is good for a Manufacturing Engineer. For mostly onsite roles in advanced manufacturing, that flexibility helps with personal appointments or family needs. It's not rigid 9-5.
Cons: True remote work isn't really an option for most production-focused roles here in the Austin, TX office. It's mainly an onsite gig, especially if you're directly on the production lines. Don't expect to be fully WFH often; that's just not how this industry usually works.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more hybrid options for roles that aren't strictly tied to the production floor. Even a day or two remote for certain tasks would help with employee morale and flexibility, especially for advanced manufacturing positions that involve more planning and less hands-on work.
