Okay Work-Life, Hybrid Model Helps

Overall, my experience at Comcore Technology has been decent. The work-life balance for a Software Engineer here is pretty okay, especially with their hybrid work model. But be ready for some busy times with enterprise software deadlines.

Pros

The hybrid work model is a lifesaver; it's great for balancing personal appointments. As a Software Engineer, I really appreciate the flexibility to work from home a few days a week. The team is collaborative too, which makes the on-site days productive.

Cons

Sometimes, projects for our enterprise software clients run late, meaning long hours. There's pressure to deliver, especially towards sprint ends. It can be tough to completely disconnect on those weeks.

Advice to Management

Try to better scope projects to avoid crunch times. It would help a lot with employee burnout.

Hybrid Model is Fine, Not Truly Flexible
Pros: I do like the set two days working from home, which helps with the commute. It's a solid perk for Software Engineers, especially managing family stuff. The San Jose office is modern, but WFH days are a lifesaver.
Cons: The 'flexibility' is pretty rigid. You can't really swap days or go fully remote without a big fight. For a mid-sized tech company, I thought there'd be more trust in us working from anywhere.
Advice to Management: Give more genuine work flexibility options beyond just the set hybrid model. Trust your engineering teams to manage their time. Standardize policies so it's not manager-dependent.
