Role Title: IT Manager

Salary: Up to S$5,000/month + up to 3-months bonus

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Who Are BullionStar

BullionStar is Singapore's leading precious metals dealer. We sell, buy back, store, and deliver physical gold, silver, and platinum to customers worldwide — from first-time buyers to institutional investors. We operate a full-service showroom in Singapore, a comprehensive e-commerce platform, and vault storage facilities across multiple jurisdictions.

We are independently owned, founder-led, and intentionally lean. There are no layers of corporate bureaucracy here. Decisions are made quickly, everyone is close to the customer, and every person in the business has a direct impact on what we deliver. We've built our reputation on trust, transparency, and doing things properly.

We're looking for people who are drawn to that kind of environment — people who want ownership, not job titles, and who find energy in building something rather than maintaining something.

Why This Role Exists

Our IT estate keeps a live, high-trust business trading every day — a showroom, an e-commerce platform, and secure systems that protect customers' wealth. We need a hands-on IT Manager to run it: keeping the infrastructure, networks, and systems reliable and secure, leading a small team, and making sure day-to-day IT simply works.

This is a player-coach role. You'll manage a small, hands-on IT team — setting priorities and supporting their day-to-day work — while staying deep in the technical work yourself. You'll keep the estate running, contribute to the company's IT strategy and turn agreed plans into working systems, and carry real delivery load personally. You'll report to our Head of IT and Infrastructure and CTO, with the autonomy to make the call and the responsibility to see it through.

What You'll Own

You run the IT estate day to day and keep the business working:

  • Day-to-day IT operations. Run the day-to-day operation, performance, and availability of the company's core systems and services, keeping the business operating without interruption.
  • IT infrastructure. Manage and maintain the IT infrastructure — servers, networks, office infrastructure, and end-user systems.
  • Networks and office infrastructure. Manage local office infrastructure — routers, switches, office Wi-Fi, CCTV, and VoIP — with hands-on Ubiquiti expertise, Level 3 network configuration for complex issues, and Wi-Fi connectivity and performance troubleshooting.
  • Business applications and software. Administer the company's software stack — email and productivity tools, business applications, and licensing.
  • Security and access. Implement and maintain IT security controls and access management — identity, MFA, and the joiner, mover, and leaver process — and flag risks and vulnerabilities as you spot them.
  • Data protection and compliance. Help keep IT practices aligned with Singapore's PDPA and the company's data-protection and security standards and support internal and external audits.
  • Monitoring, backup, and continuity. Maintain monitoring, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes, and lead the response when incidents or outages hit.
  • End-user hardware lifecycle. Manage the hardware lifecycle for staff — laptop procurement, MDM provisioning, and secure on-boarding and off-boarding.
  • Patching, upgrades, and projects. Keep systems patched and current, and run infrastructure upgrades and technology projects, including installing and upgrading server and networking hardware.
  • Support and the team. Provide and oversee first-line support — working closely with the wider team, setting priorities and supporting their day-to-day work.
  • Hands-on delivery. Stay close to the tools — provisioning, building and repairing hardware, racking servers, pulling cable, and personally solving the hard problems when they land.
  • Suppliers and procurement. Manage external IT suppliers and technology partners, handle equipment procurement, and give input into IT budget planning.
  • Documentation. Create and maintain documentation for systems, processes, and configurations.
  • Asset register. Keep the IT asset register accurate and current, so we always know what we run, where, and who has it.
  • Cross-team support. Work with the Technology, Finance, and Operations teams to keep business-critical systems running.

Who We're Looking For

About

We care about what you can actually do more than what's on paper. This is a hands-on management role, and the right person will have most or all of the following:

  • Solid, hands-on technical background. You've run infrastructure yourself — servers, networks, and systems — and you're still comfortable in the work, not just directing it.
  • Strong networking and infrastructure skills. Network configuration and troubleshooting, including experience with Ubiquiti, and comfort across hardware, software, and multiple operating systems.
  • Some experience leading others. You've managed or mentored a person or a small team, setting priorities and helping them deliver.
  • Security-minded and trustworthy. You think about risk and treat privileged access with discretion — essential in a business safeguarding customers' wealth.
  • Organised and dependable. You keep multiple things moving, communicate status without being chased, and can be trusted to keep the estate running.
  • Reliable and on-site. You're present and happy to be the person the business counts on when something needs fixing.
  • A builder with ideas. You put ideas forward and run with them, and you're never satisfied with 'good enough'.
  • Eligible and screenable. You have the right to work in Singapore and are comfortable undergoing background and security screening — essential given the access this role carries.
  • AI-forward. You see technology, including AI tools, as a way to work smarter, and you're willing to experiment and bring new ideas to how we run IT.

Formal qualifications matter far less to us than proven ability. If you have the technical skill, the drive, and the appetite to run things well, you can succeed in this role regardless of your background.

What This Role Is Not

It's not a hands-off management role. You'll lead the team, but you're in the work with them — building, configuring, and fixing. If you want to manage from a distance and review reports, this isn't the right fit.

It's not a pure help-desk role. First-line support is part of it, but the heart of the job is keeping the infrastructure, networks, and systems running properly.

It's not a role where 'someone else will deal with it' works. When a system is down or a deadline is looming, you own it through to a fix — and you take that personally.
