Good Place for Tech, Solid Leadership
Pros: Working here, you get to be part of an innovative lighting tech company, which is exciting. My colleagues are super collaborative, and there are lots of learning opportunities, especially if you're into smart lighting and IoT development. Management really tries to support team members and encourages skill development. It's a generally stable environment.
Cons: Sometimes the internal approval processes can feel a bit slow or bureaucratic, which can definitely impact project velocity, especially in a fast-paced software engineering environment. Also, while the immediate leadership is strong, communication flows across some of the larger, global teams could sometimes be a little clearer. It would help avoid redundancies and keep everyone aligned on our lighting technology initiatives.
Advice to Management: Continue to streamline internal approval processes to boost project velocity. Focus on improving cross-functional communication strategies, especially between large global teams, to ensure everyone is aligned on our smart lighting and IoT objectives.

Okay Flexibility, But Hybrid Policy Is Stiff
Pros: You do get a bit of flexibility as a Software Engineer, especially when needing to run errands or adjust your start time. The hybrid model in the Burlington, MA office means you're not always chained to your desk, which is a plus for some.
Cons: However, the official hybrid policy often feels more like mandatory office days than true flexibility. It's hard to get full remote work approval for specific situations. This can make it tough to plan for personal appointments.
Advice to Management: Revisit the hybrid work policy. More trust and actual flexibility for lighting technology teams would boost morale and productivity. Consider allowing more remote options.

Culture needs work, some good people though
Pros: I liked my team; they were genuinely supportive and friendly. The hybrid model was okay; I could WFH a few days, which helped my work-life balance.
Cons: The overall company culture feels pretty top-down and old school for a big corporate. It's tough to get new ideas accepted for our lighting solutions. There's also too much bureaucracy, especially in the Burlington, MA office.
Advice to Management: Listen more to the engineering teams. Try to break down some of the internal silos and really embrace innovation in smart lighting, not just talk about it.

Decent Hybrid Model for Engineers, Room for Improvement
Pros: I appreciate the hybrid model; it's really helpful. WFH a couple days a week makes a big difference for life in the Piscataway, NJ area. For Software Engineer roles, this work arrangement is pretty solid and aids work-life balance.
Cons: It's not truly remote; you still have to be in the office a few days, which limits some flexibility. Sometimes project deadlines in the smart lighting industry mean less WFH, even with the hybrid setup. The core office hours can be a bit rigid too.
Advice to Management: Give teams more autonomy on WFH days. True work flexibility means trusting employees to get work done, not just setting office attendance quotas. It would really help morale and retain talent in the competitive tech industry.

Pay is Okay, Benefits are Standard Here
Pros: The base salary for a Software Engineer at the Eindhoven office isn't terrible. You get decent health insurance. It's a big corporate company, so there's a stable pension plan.
Cons: Raises are pretty small, and bonuses aren't very competitive for the lighting solutions industry. I've felt a bit underpaid compared to market rates. There aren't many extra perks or innovative benefits.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into making salaries more competitive, especially for experienced engineering roles. Boosting annual raises and improving the bonus structure would help a lot with retention. Also, adding some more modern benefits could attract top talent.

Growth is a bit of a struggle here
Pros: As a Software Engineer, the projects in the lighting industry are actually pretty cool. You'll work with some decent technology. It's a big corporate company, so job stability isn't bad.
Cons: Career growth, though, is tough. There aren't many clear paths to advance, especially if you're working remote. You often wait for someone to leave to move up.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating clearer career development plans and opening up internal mobility options. It feels like current employees hit a ceiling fast.

Culture is decent, but work can be intense
Pros: My team is genuinely supportive, which is great as a Software Engineer. We get to work on some pretty cool smart lighting solutions. The hybrid work model in the Boston office is also a real plus for flexibility.
Cons: Honestly, decision-making can be super slow at this big corporate company. It sometimes feels like you're stuck waiting for approvals. Career growth isn't always clear, even for high performers, which is frustrating.
Advice to Management: Try to speed up decision-making processes. Also, be clearer about career paths for individual contributors.

Pretty good flexibility, but team dependent
Pros: As a Software Engineer in the lighting solutions industry, I've found that the hybrid model at Signify is actually pretty flexible. We get to work from home a couple of days a week, which is nice for balancing personal life. My manager is usually fine if I need to shift hours a bit.
Cons: The downside is it's really team-dependent. Some teams have less flexibility, and you're expected to be onsite more often. Full remote isn't really an option here, even for roles that seem like they could be.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more fully remote options for certain roles. Standardize flexibility policies across all teams.

Okay Pay, Benefits Are Just Decent Here
Pros: The healthcare plans are pretty decent, which is a big plus. We also get a solid 401k match, which helps with retirement planning. For a corporate company in the lighting solutions space, the standard benefits are fine, especially with the hybrid work option from our Piscataway, NJ office.
Cons: Pay for a Software Engineer here feels pretty average, honestly. Don't expect big tech salaries for IoT products. Annual raises are usually pretty small, so it's tough to keep up with inflation.
Advice to Management: You've got to offer more competitive compensation packages for technical roles. Better pay and benefits would really help attract and retain top talent.

Hybrid Model Works Okay, Room for Improvement
Pros: I like the hybrid work arrangement. It's usually 3 days in office, 2 remote for marketing specialists, which is a good balance. Being able to work from home a couple of days really helps with personal appointments and reduces commute stress.
Cons: Sometimes the flexibility isn't there for big smart lighting solution campaigns, which is tough. You're expected to be on-site more often then. It can also be hard to schedule team meetings when everyone's not in the Burlington, MA office at the same time.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize the hybrid policy more, especially for project-heavy periods. It would help marketing teams plan better when we know what to expect. Make sure all teams have the right tech for seamless hybrid collaboration too.
