Decent starting point, slow career growth later
Pros: It's a really good starting point for fresh grads in construction. You get to work on significant infrastructure projects, which is great onsite experience. Lots of learning opportunities in your first few years.
Cons: After a few years, career progression for Site Engineers really slows down. There isn't a clear path for promotion to senior engineering roles. It feels like you hit a wall in this large corporate without very specific project breaks.
Advice to Management: Develop clearer promotion criteria and mentorship programs for mid-level engineers. Provide more opportunities for internal transfers to different project types or departments to foster career growth.

Work flexibility isn't really a thing here
Pros: Sometimes, for office-based Project Engineers, you can leave a bit earlier. They do try to give some notice for big changes if you're not on site. For a big construction company, they follow some labor laws which is solid.
Cons: As a Site Engineer, work flexibility is basically non-existent. You're expected on site during all working hours for civil engineering projects. It's a very traditional approach to work. Don't expect to WFH or have flexible hours. Late nights and early mornings are common, especially when a project is nearing completion.
Advice to Management: Consider exploring more modern work arrangements, even for some project support roles or administrative tasks. It's tough to retain talent when other industries offer so much more flexibility. Even a small change could make a big difference for employee morale and overall work-life balance.
