Work Flexibility is a Real Challenge Here
Pros: You get to work on some massive infrastructure projects, which is great for experience as a Project Coordinator. The pay for these civil engineering roles is pretty decent, and it's a very stable job with a big, corporate structure.
Cons: Work flexibility is almost non-existent. You're strictly onsite every day, and remote work isn't an option in the Dubai office, even for roles that could potentially support it. It's really tough to balance personal life with the long hours, making work-life balance difficult.
Advice to Management: Consider offering some level of work flexibility, even if it's just hybrid options for certain roles. It would really help with employee morale and retention, especially for the younger engineers and project staff.

Culture is tough but projects are big
Pros: Working on large-scale infrastructure projects is pretty cool. You get exposure to international construction practices. As a Civil Engineer, the project scope is usually impressive, especially for developing countries.
Cons: The company culture is very top-down. There's not much room for independent thinking, especially for junior staff on onsite projects. Communication between different levels can be tough; it feels like you're just following orders.
Advice to Management: Try to empower local teams more. Improve communication channels from the top down and bottom up.

Decent Security for Major Infrastructure Roles
Pros: This large corporate has many big infrastructure development projects globally. As a Civil Engineer, I felt pretty secure with steady work. It's stable for core construction roles.
Cons: However, if you're on a project-specific contract, job security can be tricky once it wraps up. There's not always an immediate transfer to new heavy civil construction work in the Dubai office.
Advice to Management: Focus more on retaining talent between large-scale projects. Don't just let good people go when one job ends.
