British American Tobacco Malaysia has an exciting opportunity for a Junior Analytical Scientist in Malang, Indonesia.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Deliver analytical testing and scientific investigations that generate trusted data and valuable insights to support Quality Growth, product innovation, THR sciences, and regulatory engagement.
- Develop, validate, and apply analytical methods for metals, carbonyls, TSNAs, and related analytes, helping to deepen scientific understanding and support evidence-based decisions.
- Collaborate with scientists, product teams, and external technical experts to solve complex challenges, explore new approaches, and contribute to the successful delivery of research programmes.
- Interpret and communicate analytical findings clearly, transforming data into actionable insights that support quality standards, business priorities, and the digital transformation roadmap.
- Advance analytical capabilities across PLM and Sustainable Future initiatives through method development, technology adoption, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing.
- Share scientific expertise through R&S reports, publications, and presentations while contributing to strong project delivery, EH&S excellence, and awareness of emerging opportunities in analytical science.
What are we looking for?
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline, with hands-on experience in analytical laboratory environments.
- Proven experience operating analytical instrumentation such as GC-FID, HPLC, and LC-MS/MS, with strong knowledge of analytical method development, validation, and data interpretation.
- Familiarity with ISO 17025 and/or GxP-regulated laboratories, including quality systems, laboratory governance, and data integrity standards.
- Experience using LIMS and data analytics/informatics tools to manage, assess, and report laboratory data accurately and efficiently.
- Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to deliver results independently, collaborate across teams, and communicate complex scientific concepts clearly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports, scientific publications, and presentations; intermediate English proficiency required, with a strong desire to learn and develop new analytical capabilities.
