Pros: The hybrid model is a solid start. We get two work-from-home days a week, which really helps beat the traffic in the Kuala Lumpur office for Software Engineer roles. It’s nice to have those days to focus on deep work without office distractions.
Cons: The 'flexibility' often feels limited. Our core hours are super strict, so you can't really shift your start or end time much, even on office days. For a tech startup, I'd expect more freedom. Sometimes I've had to come in on a WFH day for a last-minute team meeting, which kinda defeats the purpose.
Advice to Management: Management, rethink what 'work flexibility' truly means. Don't just offer a hybrid model, make it actually flexible around people's lives and their specific roles, especially for software development teams. Trust your employees more with their schedules.
