Work-life balance is okay, but it's a grind.
Pros: Honestly, the hybrid model helps a lot. Getting those WFH days in the Kuala Lumpur office for banking roles really makes a difference. You can mostly manage your own schedule as a Relationship Manager, which is good for personal appointments.
Cons: But it's still a corporate banking environment. Expect long hours, especially at month-end, making it tough to truly log off. There's definitely an 'always on' expectation, even with the hybrid setup, which can be draining.
Advice to Management: Management should really encourage disconnecting after hours. Emphasize actual work-life boundaries for all employees, especially in client-facing roles in financial services.

Solid Benefits, But Pay Needs Improvement
Pros: The health insurance is really comprehensive, which is great for employees in the corporate banking sector. Annual leave and other benefits are pretty standard for a large bank in the Kuala Lumpur office, nothing to complain about there.
Cons: The base salary for a Financial Analyst isn't as competitive as I'd like, especially compared to other regional financial institutions. Raises are often minimal, even if you're hitting all your targets.
Advice to Management: Review salary bands to ensure they're competitive with the broader financial industry, especially for key roles like Financial Analysts. This will help with retention.

Decent Start, But Career Path Stalls
Pros: You get good exposure to the banking industry, learning the ropes quickly. As an Associate Relationship Manager, I picked up a lot about client management and financial products. The company provides a stable corporate environment in the Kuala Lumpur office.
Cons: Career progression is pretty slow, it's hard to get promoted even if you perform well. There aren't many clear paths for moving up in banking roles. It often feels like you're stuck in your current role for a long time.
Advice to Management: Invest more in internal career development programs and create clearer pathways for employees to get promoted. Don't make people wait years for a slight title change; reward performance more directly.
