Okay balance, but field work adds hours
Pros: The pay's pretty good for the plantation sector, so that's a plus. You get decent benefits too. Some months are chill, which helps with personal time.
Cons: But as an Agronomist, fieldwork often meant crazy long hours, especially during harvest. Onsite work in Selangor can be unpredictable. It's tough to just switch off sometimes.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage workloads for field-based roles, especially during peak seasons. More support or clear overtime policies would really help prevent burnout.

Pay is just okay, benefits are solid
Pros: The medical benefits are a real plus here, pretty comprehensive for an established company like SD Guthrie Berhad. As a Sustainability Analyst, it's nice knowing that part is covered. The pension plan is decent too, which helps for the long run.
Cons: But the base salary for roles in the Kuala Lumpur office, especially within the sustainable agriculture sector, isn't always super competitive. You might find yourself wishing for more, and raises don't always keep up with inflation, which is tough.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into benchmarking salaries for various roles, especially in the palm oil and plantation industry, against current market rates in Kuala Lumpur. Attracting and retaining talent means offering competitive pay, not just good benefits.

Decent starting point, slow growth path
Pros: You get a solid introduction to corporate finance within the plantation sector. There's good initial training for new hires. I got some exposure to different departments in the Kuala Lumpur office by asking around, which was helpful.
Cons: Career growth for Junior Accountant roles feels really slow. There isn't a clear path for promotion after a few years. Mentorship is sparse once you're past onboarding, which makes it tough to advance in this big corporate environment.
Advice to Management: Please create clearer career paths and promotion frameworks for early-career employees. Invest more in ongoing mentorship programs, especially for those in financial roles within the regional offices.
