Company Reviews

NMG Consulting is a leading multinational consulting firm focusing solely on investments, insurance and reinsurance markets. NMG’s vertically-integrated model - consulting backed by ‘information advantage’ from proprietary research - differentiates us from the competition. We work with financial institutions (insurers, reinsurers, fund managers and pension funds, banks and brokers) to shape strategy, implement change and manage performance.

NMG Insights reports tap into the information flow from our consulting case experience, research and analytics programmes globally. We deliberately select topic areas that we believe do not attract sufficient attention, or where our views run contrary to the accepted wisdom. Insights reports are necessarily high level, and we do not publish client-specific data or detail from our proprietary studies.

NMG Consulting is a part of the NMG Group, an Independent, well established global financial services firm with approximately 800 employees across Asia Pacific, Europe, North America and South Africa.

Okay Place for Financial Services Consulting, Job Security Can Vary
Pros: As an Associate Consultant, I got solid experience in financial services consulting. The hybrid model allows some flexibility, and they generally have a steady client base in the Sydney office. There isn't constant turnover which is good.
Cons: Job security feels tied to current project demands, which is typical for a mid-sized consulting firm. If new projects slow down, it can make you wonder about long-term stability for some consulting roles. It's not the most secure feeling, especially if the financial market gets shaky.
Advice to Management: Focus on diversifying client industries more to buffer against market fluctuations. Keep talent engaged with clearer paths, not just project hopping.

Pay is Okay, Benefits are Standard
Pros: The health benefits package is pretty standard for the consulting industry. They do offer a 401k with a decent match, which is a plus for retirement planning.
Cons: However, the base pay for an Associate Consultant, especially in the New York City office, feels pretty low. Don't count on big annual bonuses either; they're often underwhelming for the work involved.
Advice to Management: Rethink the compensation structure for entry-level and junior consulting roles, especially in major metro areas like NYC. Boosting base salaries would really help attract and retain top talent.

Decent flexibility for a corporate consulting gig
Pros: I appreciate the hybrid model; usually 2-3 days a week WFH. For Consultant roles, it's pretty solid compared to some other firms. This really helps cut down on the NYC commute and managing personal appointments.
Cons: Sometimes the WFH days aren't guaranteed, especially with client demands in the financial services industry. If your project lead prefers everyone in the New York office, you're pretty much stuck going in. It's not truly flexible if you're on a tough project or working with certain senior managers.
Advice to Management: Try to standardize the hybrid policy across all teams. Give more autonomy to project managers regarding WFH days rather than making it dependent on individual preference.
