Product Manager
3.1

Leadership Has Potential, Needs More Clarity
Pros: You'll find some really strong individual managers who are smart and supportive. They truly care about their teams and help you grow as a Product Manager. The company does provide decent resources for our projects, which is good.
Cons: The biggest issue is inconsistent strategic direction from senior leadership. It feels like priorities shift often, making long-term planning tough. Decision-making can be slow, which can hold back innovation for healthcare solutions.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer, consistent strategic communication from the top. Empower mid-level leadership more to cut down on slow decision-making, especially for critical medical device projects. This would really help with employee morale and retention.

Product Development Engineer

Pay is Okay, Benefits are Solid
Pros: Health insurance is pretty decent here. The 401k match is actually quite good for a corporate medical device company. As a Product Development Engineer in the Copenhagen office, the base salary is competitive enough.
Cons: Salary increases aren't really impressive each year. Bonuses often feel pretty small and aren't very clear. Don't expect much in terms of stock options, which can be a bummer.
Advice to Management: Transparency around bonus structures would be good. Also, revisit compensation strategy for technical roles in the medical device industry.

Medical Device Sales Representative

3 March 2026
Ambu: Decent, but career growth is slow
Pros: You get solid experience as a Medical Device Sales Representative working with new technologies like single-use scopes. There's good exposure to the healthcare sector overall. They offer some product training, which is helpful.
Cons: Career growth isn't very clear for sales roles; internal promotions are pretty slow. It feels like you hit a ceiling quickly. Development opportunities feel limited unless you push hard, and moving into other departments from a field-based role is tough.
Advice to Management: Establish clearer paths for internal career growth and provide more consistent development opportunities for employees, especially beyond initial product training.

Clinical Sales Specialist

Job Security is Decent, But Keep Up Your Skills
Pros: For a Clinical Sales Specialist, job security here feels okay most of the time. Ambu has solid products, especially with our single-use scopes, which keeps us relevant in the medical device industry. Plus, being able to work remotely from my home office is a huge perk that helps with overall stability.
Cons: There's definitely some internal uncertainty when product lines get shifted or reorganizations happen. It's a mid-sized corporate environment, so changes can impact teams quickly. You just can't get too comfortable, especially with tough sales targets.
Advice to Management: Try to communicate changes more transparently and give teams more warning. Help support Clinical Sales Specialist roles better when market shifts occur. It helps with morale and perceived job security for remote employees.

Senior R&D Engineer
3.3
5 January 2026
Decent balance, but project crunch times hit hard.
Pros: The hybrid work setup in our Burnaby, BC office is a real plus. It lets me manage personal appointments easier. Most weeks, as a Senior R&D Engineer, I can stick to a fairly regular 40-hour schedule, which is decent.
Cons: Project deadlines in the medical device industry are no joke; it means long hours and sometimes weekend work for R&D roles. There's an expectation to be available, even off-hours, when a critical issue pops up, which really messes with work-life balance.
Advice to Management: Try to better resource projects to avoid constant crunch times for engineering teams. It'd really help with employee burnout.
