Pretty decent work-life balance for software dev
Pros: Work-life balance here is generally pretty good, especially as a Software Engineer. We get flexible hours and a hybrid work model, which means a few WFH days a week. It's not usually crazy long weeks, more like 40-45 hours.
Cons: Sometimes project deadlines can get tight in the tech solutions space, so you might have a crunch week. There's not always a clear boundary between personal time and work messages if you don't set it yourself. The office culture in Austin, TX could use more social events.
Advice to Management: Keep promoting work-life balance and maybe look into more team-building activities, especially for the hybrid teams. Clearer communication on project timelines would also help.

Leadership at Dekan is a mixed bag
Pros: My team lead is genuinely supportive and pushes for our career growth. We do get solid engineering challenges in our core software development projects. The benefits package for a mid-size tech company is also quite competitive.
Cons: Upper leadership changes direction too often, it's hard to keep up. As a Software Engineer, I've seen project priorities shift without much warning or clear communication from the top. There's a real need for more consistent vision in our Seattle office.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer, long-term strategic planning and communicate changes more effectively to the engineering teams. Stabilize leadership's vision to prevent constant shifts in project scope and keep employee morale up.
