Solid Place to Build a Career in Logistics
Pros: I appreciate the supportive team and learning opportunities in this freight logistics role. C.H. Robinson offers good job security and competitive pay with solid benefits like health and 401k. It's a great place for career development and stability in the supply chain industry.
Cons: Workload can be demanding during peak times, affecting work-life balance. Internal communication between departments needs improvement for efficiency. Career progression, while present, feels a bit slow.
Advice to Management: Focus on improving inter-departmental communication to reduce friction and increase efficiency. Also, consider more structured or transparent pathways for career progression in some roles to keep employees motivated, especially during busy periods.

Decent for entry-level, but expect longer days.
Pros: You learn a ton about the logistics industry quickly, which is great for career growth. If your team is good, they'll help you manage the load. They offer a hybrid model for some flexibility.
Cons: Work-life balance as a Logistics Coordinator can be a struggle. Expect to work past 5 PM often, especially if you have a lot of loads. It's not always a 40-hour week.
Advice to Management: Management really needs to focus on adequate staffing and workload distribution, especially for critical roles in the transportation industry. Help us get out on time.

Pay is okay, benefits are decent.
Pros: The health insurance is actually good, and the 401k match is pretty standard for a corporate environment. They do offer a decent amount of PTO, which is nice for a role in the transportation industry.
Cons: Base salary for many entry-level logistics roles is definitely on the lower side, especially considering the intense freight market. Annual raises are usually minimal, so don't expect big jumps in compensation.
Advice to Management: Seriously re-evaluate base pay for your front-line Logistics Coordinators. It's tough to retain talent when competitors in the transportation industry offer more.

Hybrid Work is Okay, Not Great
Pros: You do get some hybrid work flexibility, which is nice for a large corporate company in the logistics sector. Coming into the Minneapolis office a few days a week lets you connect with teams. The formal policy is clear, so you know what to expect.
Cons: The in-office days feel a bit rigid sometimes. For a Logistics Coordinator, there are definitely days I could be just as productive WFH, but the hybrid work policy doesn't allow for much deviation. It can make balancing personal stuff tricky when you have mandatory office time.
Advice to Management: Rethink the rigidity of the hybrid model, especially for roles like Logistics Coordinator. More autonomy in choosing office vs. WFH days could boost morale and productivity. A bit more trust in employees to manage their work could go a long way.

Pay is tough, benefits are okay
Pros: The health insurance benefits are actually quite solid, definitely a plus for a large company. Their 401k match is also decent, which is good for long-term planning in this corporate environment.
Cons: As a Logistics Coordinator, the base salary is pretty low, especially when you consider the workload. The commission structure for freight brokerage roles can be really unpredictable, making it hard to count on consistent pay.
Advice to Management: Seriously re-evaluate the base salaries for entry-level logistics roles. Retention would improve if people felt fairly compensated.

Okay for starting out, then it slows down
Pros: You get a crash course in the trucking industry and supply chain logistics right away. There's good initial training for new hires. It's a solid place to learn the basics as an entry-level professional.
Cons: Career progression is slow in this corporate environment. You often hit a wall after a few years. Internal opportunities for advancement aren't always clear or accessible, especially for higher-level freight broker roles.
Advice to Management: Make career paths clearer for employees beyond the initial roles. Invest more in internal mentorship for advancement.

Okay flexibility for a big corporate place
Pros: As a Logistics Coordinator, I did get some WFH days. The hybrid model was a nice attempt. It wasn't totally rigid, which is decent for the corporate environment.
Cons: The WFH days felt pretty limited though, especially compared to other companies. In the freight industry, there's always a need for some onsite presence, but it felt like they could offer more true flexibility. You still need to be in the Minneapolis, MN office a lot.
Advice to Management: Seriously look at modernizing your flexibility policies. The hybrid approach is a start, but giving employees more autonomy for their work location would help with retention. The freight industry is changing.

Leadership can be a real mixed bag
Pros: You learn so much about complex supply chain solutions quickly. The team environment, when you have a good manager, is pretty supportive. Pay for new Logistics Coordinator roles is decent, too.
Cons: Leadership consistency is a big problem here. Some managers are great, others really aren't. There's often not enough clear direction from upper management. This makes career growth feel a bit random.
Advice to Management: Invest more in consistent leadership training across all teams. Make sure managers are equipped to offer clear guidance for career growth. Especially for those in critical supply chain roles.

Good Start for Logistics, But Growth Slows
Pros: You learn a ton about the freight brokerage industry fast. It's a huge company name for your resume. Getting in as an Account Manager is a good first step. Lots of clients mean diverse experience.
Cons: Internal career growth can feel really slow. There's not always a clear path to promotion for senior Account Manager roles. You often have to leave to find a significant step up. The large corporate structure means you're often just a number.
Advice to Management: Make career paths more transparent. Invest in development programs for non-management roles. Help people move beyond their current position.

Decent Job Security, But It's a Grind
Pros: C.H. Robinson is a big corporate player in the global freight forwarding industry, so job security as a Logistics Coordinator feels pretty solid. They've been around forever and the core business of moving freight isn't going anywhere. Even during economic dips, there's a strong sense of stability.
Cons: While job security is generally good, career growth for logistics roles can feel slow. It's mostly an onsite gig in the Eden Prairie, MN office, so there's not much work flexibility. They do sometimes restructure and cut teams, which can create some anxiety even if individual roles feel safe.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more paths for career growth and explore hybrid work options for experienced Logistics Coordinators to improve morale and retention. Acknowledging the long-term commitment employees make would go a long way.
