Application Engineer

Great Place for Technical Learning and Growth
Pros: I've really enjoyed my time as an Application Engineer here. You get to work with cutting-edge engineering simulation software, constantly learning new things across various industries. The team is super collaborative and supportive, especially when you're tackling complex client problems. It's a stable environment for anyone passionate about CAE and technical challenges, offering plenty of career development through projects. The hybrid work setup is also a big plus for work flexibility.
Cons: While there are many learning opportunities, the promotion path isn't always the fastest compared to other tech roles. Also, sometimes cross-region communication for projects across the APAC region can feel a bit fragmented. It's an industry that moves quickly, so staying on top of everything means occasional busy periods. Improving internal knowledge sharing across different offices would be great for overall company culture.
Advice to Management: Focus on streamlining the promotion process and enhancing inter-regional communication and knowledge sharing to make the career growth clearer and internal operations even smoother for all technical roles.

Solid Growth in Simulation Engineering
Pros: CADFEM APAC offers great learning for an Application Engineer in simulation software. Colleagues are supportive, making it a stable and collaborative environment. The work-life balance is quite good for the tech industry, a big plus for me in Singapore with their hybrid model.
Cons: The path to promotion can feel slow. Also, some internal processes are a bit outdated, causing minor delays now and then.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer career progression paths and streamline outdated internal processes to improve overall efficiency and employee satisfaction.

Great Place for Engineering Professionals to Learn
Pros: I appreciate the focus on continuous learning in engineering software. As a Technical Consultant, I've had many opportunities to develop my skills with leading CAE tools. The team is very collaborative and supportive, which really helps foster a strong environment for technical growth and development within the industry.
Cons: While technical career growth is strong, the formal promotion process can sometimes feel a bit slower. Also, streamlining internal communication and approval processes across regional offices would be beneficial for efficiency.
Advice to Management: Continue to invest in employee training and development programs. Consider reviewing and potentially streamlining the promotion process and internal communication protocols to enhance efficiency and maintain talent engagement across the APAC region.

Leadership Challenges for Technical Roles
Pros: The team here is generally solid. We get to work on some interesting projects in the engineering simulation industry, which is cool. The hybrid work setup in our Singapore office is a definite plus for flexibility.
Cons: Leadership can feel pretty out of touch with day-to-day tasks for Application Engineers. Decisions often come top-down without much team input. Communication from management is frequently unclear.
Advice to Management: Management should really make an effort to connect with the technical teams, especially Application Engineers. Their insights are crucial for understanding client needs in the engineering simulation industry. Better, more transparent communication from the top would help a lot.

Okay culture for a simulation software company
Pros: Working as a Software Engineer here means you're with some smart people. The teams are pretty collaborative, especially on our CAE projects. It's nice to have colleagues who genuinely care about the engineering services we provide.
Cons: The company culture can feel a bit old-school sometimes. There's not much transparency from higher management, which makes things tough. Decision-making is really slow, especially for a mid-sized engineering firm in the APAC region.
Advice to Management: Management should really work on improving transparency. Faster decision-making would also help a lot with project momentum. Modernizing the company culture to be more open would benefit everyone.

Okay for simulation, but expect long days
Pros: The team is really solid and supportive, which helps when things get crazy. You learn a ton about CAE software and engineering solutions, which is great for career development. There's good job security too.
Cons: Work-life balance can be a real struggle as a Technical Consultant. Expect to work long hours, often well past normal business hours, especially with project deadlines. It's typical for the simulation industry, but it still wears you down.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage client expectations and project loads so your technical teams aren't constantly overwhelmed. More focus on actual work-life balance initiatives, not just talking about them, would make a huge difference.
