Hybrid work is hit or miss
Pros: As a Product Manager, I appreciated the hybrid work arrangement a couple days a week. It's nice to have some control over your schedule, especially in the demanding physical security industry. Helps with personal appointments too.
Cons: The biggest issue is how inconsistent work flexibility is. Some teams in the New Haven, CT office have to be onsite 4-5 days, which doesn't feel very 'hybrid' for a big corporate company. It's frustrating when others have more remote days.
Advice to Management: Standardize the hybrid model across the board. It would really improve morale and fairness if all departments had clear, consistent work-from-home options.

Work-life balance can be okay if you set boundaries
Pros: The hybrid model was a huge help for my personal life. As a Software Engineer, I appreciated some flexibility to shift my hours. Working on new access control systems was interesting work.
Cons: Sometimes project deadlines get pretty intense. It's easy for the lines to blur, especially when pushing updates for security solutions. Disconnecting in this large corporate environment can be tough.
Advice to Management: Really emphasize and empower teams to maintain healthy boundaries. Don't just talk about work-life balance, actually support it when project scopes get out of hand. Help managers protect their teams' time.

Pay is okay, but benefits could be better
Pros: The base salary as an Operations Coordinator in the New Haven, CT office was pretty decent for the market. They have a solid 401k match, which is good for retirement planning.
Cons: Healthcare premiums are honestly pretty high, cutting into take-home pay a lot. Annual raises are usually minimal, and it's tough to get significant bumps without changing roles within this large corporate company.
Advice to Management: Look into making the healthcare benefits more affordable for employees. It'd really help with retention.

Leadership Can Be Hit or Miss Here
Pros: Some of the senior managers are truly experienced, especially in the access control systems space. I've learned a lot from a few solid individual contributors who got promoted. It's a large corporate, so there are resources.
Cons: Upper leadership sometimes lacks a clear vision, which makes it tough for Project Manager roles. Communication from the top down can be pretty inconsistent in the New Haven office. It often feels like decisions are made without understanding the operational impact on security solutions development.
Advice to Management: Focus on developing a consistent leadership vision and improving transparent communication channels across all levels. Really listen to feedback from those on the ground, especially for security solutions projects.

Solid Stability for Corporate Roles
Pros: It's a huge, global company in the physical security industry, so that inherently feels secure. As an Operations Coordinator, I've seen steady work for my role in the Dallas office. You don't worry about the company disappearing overnight.
Cons: There are a lot of reorganizations that can make you feel a bit uneasy, especially in these corporate roles. Growth opportunities aren't always clear, which sometimes makes you wonder about your long-term path here. It's not a fast-paced environment for career progression.
Advice to Management: Try to communicate reorganizations more clearly and earlier to reduce employee anxiety. Better define career paths for corporate employees, particularly those in the operations department, so they understand their growth potential.

Hybrid model has some perks, but it's rigid
Pros: I liked the initial move to a hybrid model; it was good to get a couple days working from home. For my specific engineering role, being able to focus on design work without constant office interruptions was a plus.
Cons: The 'flexibility' often means fixed hybrid days. Is there much wiggle room for personal appointments? Not really. It feels pretty strict for a large corporate company, which definitely impacts work-life balance.
Advice to Management: Revisit the work from home policy for engineering roles. More genuine flexibility, not just a fixed hybrid schedule, would really boost morale and productivity. Trust your employees.

Stable, but needs a cultural refresh
Pros: It's a really stable global corporation, which is nice. You get decent benefits and the job security is solid for a software engineer. There are some interesting projects if you're into access control and other security solutions.
Cons: The company culture can feel pretty old-school and slow-moving sometimes. Decision-making is often bogged down in bureaucracy, which isn't great for innovation. It's a very onsite environment in the New Haven office, not much work flexibility.
Advice to Management: Try to streamline decision-making and empower teams more. Foster a culture that embraces change and innovation faster, especially for us in the tech side of security solutions. Consider more work flexibility options.

Stable Company, But Growth Can Be Slow
Pros: Working for a global organization like ASSA ABLOY Group provides solid job security, especially in the access solutions and hardware manufacturing space. My onsite work as a Marketing Coordinator feels pretty stable. It's good to know I'm with a big corporate company.
Cons: Internal career growth isn't always clear, which can make you feel stuck if you're not actively looking outside. Some divisions have had layoffs, so it's not immune to changes. You can feel a bit like a number in such a large company.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating clearer internal growth paths for employees. It'd really help with morale and keeping good people from feeling stuck.

Decent Place for Stability, Culture Needs Work
Pros: The team in the New Haven, CT office is pretty supportive. As a Project Coordinator, I felt like my immediate colleagues really looked out for each other. It's a stable, global company in the security solutions space, so job security feels solid.
Cons: Company culture can feel pretty bureaucratic. Decisions take forever to get made, especially with so many layers in this big corporate structure. There's not much room for quick innovation, which can be frustrating in a hybrid model.
Advice to Management: Try to empower project teams more. Speed up the decision-making process across different divisions. It would really help boost morale and keep people engaged in the security solutions we're building.

Stable, but needs a culture refresh
Pros: The stability of a large corporate company is a big plus; job security feels solid. As a Software Engineer, my team in the Dallas office was pretty good, genuinely nice people. It's a decent place for entry-level IT roles in the door hardware industry.
Cons: The company culture feels pretty traditional and change is slow. Getting new ideas approved for smart locks and access solutions takes ages. There's a lot of corporate process, which can be frustrating for a Software Engineer looking to move fast.
Advice to Management: Try to empower teams more and cut down on red tape. Foster a more agile environment, especially for the tech teams working on smart locks.
