Pros: I've really enjoyed my time as a Hardware Design Engineer at Microchip Technology Inc., an established semiconductor company. It's a stable environment for professional development. My colleagues are super supportive, and there are always new, interesting projects. I feel like I'm constantly learning from experienced engineers here. The leadership in my department is generally fair and gives us room to innovate.
Cons: The approval processes can sometimes feel a bit slow for new designs, which is frustrating. Also, while work-life balance is generally good, there are definitely busy periods leading up to product launches. Compensation is decent, but it's not always competitive with larger tech firms, especially for experienced roles. Could use more clarity on career pathing too.
Advice to Management: Consider streamlining some of the design approval workflows to speed up project cycles. Also, providing clearer roadmaps for career advancement, especially for individual contributors, would be greatly appreciated by the engineering teams.
