Hybrid model is a decent perk
Pros: The hybrid work model is a solid plus. You usually get 2-3 WFH days, which is great for avoiding Manila traffic. This flexibility really helps with personal appointments, especially for those in digital retail roles.
Cons: Sometimes, team meetings require everyone in the Manila office, even on WFH days. It can be tough to adjust when plans change last minute. The workload for an e-commerce startup can sometimes override the intended work flexibility.
Advice to Management: Try to stick to the hybrid schedule more consistently. Last-minute changes to WFH days can be really disruptive.

Good for learning, not much for ladder climbing.
Pros: You learn a ton, super fast, especially in e-commerce. As a Digital Marketing Specialist, I got to try out many different things here in the Manila office. It's a true hands-on experience at a fast-growing startup.
Cons: Career growth isn't very clear cut. There's no defined path for promotions, especially in digital retail roles. Formal training for bigger roles is pretty limited, which is a bummer.
Advice to Management: Management should really work on creating clearer career paths for employees. Investing in more structured professional development, especially for roles in digital retail, would help a lot with retention.

Work-life Balance is a Bit Tricky Here
Pros: You get to work with a really passionate team, which makes the long hours more bearable. The hybrid model offers some flexibility for us in the Manila office, which is a plus for personal appointments.
Cons: Work-life balance is tough, especially for us Content Creator roles. Expect long hours during major e-commerce campaigns, and it's hard to truly disconnect. Sometimes you're on call even after regular business hours.
Advice to Management: Management should try to implement clearer boundaries for work hours, especially for critical roles like content creation. Better planning ahead of e-commerce events could help distribute the workload more evenly and reduce burnout.

Fast-paced startup, decent for a Junior PM
Pros: As a Junior Product Manager, I've learned a ton about the e-commerce space here at edamama. There's a lot of room to take on new projects and responsibilities if you show initiative, which is great for career growth in a fast-paced startup. The team is pretty collaborative, especially in the Manila office.
Cons: Formal career paths aren't super clear for product roles, so promotions felt a bit ad-hoc. Sometimes you're just thrown into things without much guidance, which can be tough if you're looking for structured development. Mentorship opportunities aren't as strong as I'd hoped for in parenting tech.
Advice to Management: Invest more in structured mentorship programs and clear career progression frameworks for all roles, especially for junior employees. This would really help with employee retention and development in a growing e-commerce company.

Okay mission, but job security is a concern.
Pros: The mission at edamama is genuinely good, helping moms and babies. I worked as a Marketing Specialist and loved the energy of my team. There's also some solid remote work flexibility, which is a huge plus.
Cons: Job security here isn't the best, especially in this e-commerce startup environment. There's a lot of uncertainty with constant restructures. It makes you feel like your role could be gone any day.
Advice to Management: Management needs to be more transparent about the company's financial health and future plans. This uncertainty around job security makes it hard to commit long-term. Clear communication helps a lot.

Okay Flexibility for a Fast-Paced E-commerce Startup
Pros: It's pretty good for an e-commerce startup. We get a hybrid work model, which is a huge plus. Splitting time between home and the Manila office really helps with my commute.
Cons: Sometimes the 'flexible' part feels a bit forced, especially for Marketing Specialist roles during big campaigns. There's an expectation to be online past usual hours. It's tough to truly log off.
Advice to Management: Try to set clearer boundaries around 'off-hours' for teams, especially during peak sales. It would really help with burnout for folks in roles like mine.

Okay flexibility for a fast-paced e-commerce startup
Pros: As a Product Manager, I've had decent work flexibility here. The option for hybrid work at this e-commerce startup is a solid plus, letting me manage my schedule better. It's good for juggling personal stuff.
Cons: Still, it's a startup, so you're often online past usual hours. Getting full remote work approved can be tough for some roles, even if you're remote from Philippines. Work-life balance here is a bit tricky sometimes.
Advice to Management: Try to formalize the flexible work policies more. Make the path to full remote options clearer for your teams.
