Leadership is decent, but has room to grow
Pros: Some managers are genuinely supportive, especially on the content creation teams in the Manila office. They help us develop new ideas for digital publishing. It's a solid place to learn if you're early in your career.
Cons: Upper management often feels out of touch with the day-to-day for Associate Editor roles. Decisions can be slow, and sometimes there's a lack of clear direction. It makes navigating projects a bit tough.
Advice to Management: Try to bridge the gap between upper management and the editorial teams. More transparency and clearer communication from the top would help a lot with project execution for everyone in digital publishing.

Decent stability in the publishing world, but changes happen
Pros: It's an established media company, not a startup, so you don't worry about it vanishing overnight. For those starting out in the publishing industry, it feels pretty solid. You learn a lot from experienced folks in the Manila office.
Cons: The digital shift means lots of restructuring, which can feel unsettling for existing roles. I've seen several magazine titles get streamlined or shut down, leading to layoffs for staff like Junior Editors. It can make job security feel a bit shaky sometimes.
Advice to Management: Be more transparent about long-term strategies for digital content and how that affects different roles. It would help a lot with employee morale and reduce anxiety about job security for teams like editorial.

Pay is Decent, Benefits are Just Okay Here
Pros: The HMO package is solid, which is a major plus for an established media company. PTO is pretty standard, you get a decent amount of vacation and sick leave. As an Associate Editor, you do receive the expected basic benefits.
Cons: Salary for publishing roles isn't super competitive, especially in the Manila, Philippines market. Don't expect huge bonuses, they're often small or non-existent. It's tough to feel like your compensation really grows much year-over-year.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into offering more competitive salaries for the editorial team and other roles in digital media. It would help a lot with attracting and retaining top talent. Also, consider clearer pathways for salary increases.
