Supportive Team, Good Flexibility for Software Engineers
Pros: Being a Software Engineer here has been positive. The team is very supportive, and there are good opportunities to learn new software development skills. Leadership fosters a collaborative, stable environment. Our hybrid work model is a big plus for work-life balance and flexibility.
Cons: Career progression can feel a bit slow, with promotion paths not always clearly defined. Also, company-wide communication about strategic changes could be more consistent across teams.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating clearer career progression paths for all roles, especially in software development, and improve proactive, consistent communication regarding company strategy across all departments.

Fantastic Flexibility and Supportive Culture for Engineers
Pros: As a Software Engineer, the work flexibility is fantastic; it genuinely helps achieve a great work-life balance, which is key in the tech industry. My team is very supportive, and I've found consistent opportunities to learn new skills and contribute to diverse projects. It's a stable and rewarding place to work.
Cons: The main drawback is that some internal approval processes can occasionally be slow, impacting project velocity. Also, cross-team communication could be smoother as the company grows and teams become more distributed.
Advice to Management: Consider reviewing and streamlining internal approval workflows to improve project velocity. Investing in better strategies or tools for cross-functional communication, especially for larger, distributed teams, would also be highly beneficial for efficiency.

Decent Pay, but Benefits Need Work Here
Pros: As a Software Engineer in the Seattle office, my base salary was pretty competitive for entry-level tech roles. The health insurance plan is actually solid, which is a big plus; they covered most of my monthly premiums.
Cons: The 401k match is super low, like barely anything, which isn't great. Also, annual raises are really small, it's tough to feel like you're keeping up with the cost of living in this city. There's almost no equity for engineers either.
Advice to Management: Look into improving the 401k match and offer more competitive annual raises. Equity options for long-term employees would also make a huge difference.

Good Start, But Growth Stalls Quick
Pros: I've learned a lot about fundamental software development practices. It's a decent spot for new grads to get their feet wet. The team in the Seattle office is pretty collaborative, which helps when you're learning.
Cons: Beyond the initial learning phase, there's not much room to grow. Promotion opportunities for entry-level tech roles are really limited. It feels like a mid-sized tech company where movement is slow, so you can get stuck.
Advice to Management: Management needs to create clearer career paths and more opportunities for internal promotion, especially for engineering roles. Invest in professional development programs to help people move up.

Leadership at Rilith is a mixed bag
Pros: Working as a Product Manager at Rilith, I've had some decent managers who genuinely care. There's good access to resources if you're proactive in the Seattle office. You can definitely learn a lot from your immediate team leads.
Cons: The higher-up leadership, especially the actual execs, often feel disconnected. Strategy isn't always clear, and it's tough when they pivot constantly without much explanation. This makes it hard to plan long-term as a Product Manager in a big tech company.
Advice to Management: Listen more to the mid-level managers and individual contributors. Make your strategic decisions more transparent, especially regarding product roadmaps. This would help Product Managers understand the 'why' better.

Hybrid model is okay, but not truly flexible.
Pros: As a Software Engineer at Rilith, the hybrid model in the Austin, TX office is a decent start. We get two WFH days a week, which helps with commuting. It's good to have that option for focus work.
Cons: But honestly, the flexibility isn't great beyond those two days. It's hard to adjust your schedule for appointments without using PTO. For dev teams, there's always an expectation you'll be onsite more often than not, even when it's not strictly necessary.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into more flexible scheduling options beyond just the hybrid model. Trusting employees, especially for roles like Software Engineer, to manage their time could boost morale and productivity. Consider less rigid onsite requirements.

Job security is pretty decent here
Pros: The job security is a big plus, especially for us Data Analysts. They don't seem to do random layoffs often, which is good for stability. The remote work arrangement also helps a lot with flexibility.
Cons: Career growth can feel slow or non-existent after a while. Sometimes projects get shelved unexpectedly, which can be a little unsettling even if your role is safe. Don't expect huge pay bumps.
Advice to Management: Try to create clearer paths for advancement for employees. While stability is valued, people also need to see opportunities for career growth within the company.
