Great Place to Grow as a Software Engineer in Cybersecurity
Pros: Working as a Software Engineer here has been great. The teams are super collaborative, and there's a strong focus on learning and growth in cybersecurity. I appreciate the flexible, remote-first setup which offers excellent work-life balance. It's a stable company with genuinely interesting technical challenges.
Cons: Career progression isn't always clearly defined; sometimes you need to proactively seek out next steps. Also, with a fully distributed team, cross-functional communication can occasionally be a bit of a challenge.
Advice to Management: I'd suggest clearer, more formalized career pathing for individual contributors to help employees proactively plan their growth. Investing in tools or processes to streamline cross-team communication in a remote setting could also boost efficiency.

Solid Remote Work, But Communication Can Be Tricky
Pros: Being remote from Toronto as a Software Engineer has been awesome. The work flexibility is really good here; I can set my own hours and manage my personal life easily. It's a true remote-first company.
Cons: While the remote setup is great, sometimes async communication is a challenge in this cybersecurity SaaS company. Getting quick decisions or feedback across different time zones can be slow. It means project timelines can stretch a bit.
Advice to Management: Keep fostering tools and practices for better async communication. Maybe more structured virtual team building events would help bridge the remote gap.

Great Remote Culture for Engineers
Pros: I really appreciate the remote-first approach; it's genuinely flexible for software engineering roles. I could work from anywhere and set my own hours, which is huge for my personal life.
Cons: Sometimes it feels like there are too many meetings because everyone's in different time zones. It can be tough to align schedules even with all the flexibility in the cybersecurity industry.
Advice to Management: Try to optimize meeting schedules to reduce overlap across global teams. More focus on asynchronous communication might help with WFH arrangements.
