Claims Adjuster

Decent stability, but WLB fluctuates a lot
Pros: The job security is good here, which is a major plus in the insurance industry. Pay and benefits are competitive, especially the health insurance. As a Claims Adjuster, you do get some flexibility with the hybrid model.
Cons: Work-life balance takes a hit when claims volume is high; you're often putting in extra hours. It's hard to truly disconnect when you're managing a heavy caseload, even with the hybrid model. Sometimes the support from management could be better, especially in the Hartford, CT office.
Advice to Management: Really focus on managing the claims load better to prevent burnout. More consistent management support for the hybrid model would also help adjusters a lot.

Hybrid Work is Decent for Insurance Roles
Pros: I've been working as a Claims Adjuster in the Dallas, TX office for a bit now. The hybrid model is pretty solid; it's nice to have some WFH days each week. It definitely helps with personal appointments, which is a big plus in the insurance industry.
Cons: The flexibility isn't totally open-ended though. There are set in-office days you can't really change easily. Full remote isn't an option for most corporate roles, even if the work could realistically be done from home.
Advice to Management: Maybe explore more flexible core office days, or offer more remote options for roles that truly don't need to be in the office. It would really help attract and retain talent in this competitive market.

Tough to move up, but stable overall
Pros: It's a really stable company, which is nice. You don't have to worry about layoffs much here. The pay and benefits are solid for the insurance industry, especially for a large corporate environment. There's a good hybrid work model in the Hartford, CT office, so that's a plus.
Cons: Career growth is pretty slow, especially as an Underwriter. It's tough to get promoted. Internal mobility feels limited; you often have to leave to find new opportunities. You can feel stuck in your current role for a long time within the commercial lines division.
Advice to Management: Management should invest more in internal development programs and create clearer paths for career progression. Make it easier for employees to move into new roles without having to look outside the company.
