Okay stability, but future feels shaky
Pros: For a big corporate company, the pay and benefits were decent. Working fully remote from Phoenix, AZ gave me good flexibility. The established name in educational publishing did offer some sense of initial job security.
Cons: Job security became a real worry recently. There are constant reorganizations and rumors of layoffs. It feels like the company is always cutting costs, making things unstable for many roles, including Instructional Designer positions. This affects morale a lot.
Advice to Management: Leadership needs to be much clearer about where McGraw Hill is headed. The constant talk about restructuring and cost-cutting makes employees nervous. Give us a solid plan, especially for those in digital learning solutions.

Pay's Just Okay, Benefits Are Solid
Pros: I've got to say, the health insurance is pretty good here, especially for a big corporate environment. The 401k match is a solid perk. It really helps when you're in educational publishing.
Cons: But the actual salary? It's tough, especially as a Content Developer in the Columbus, OH office. Don't expect huge raises. You'll likely need to jump roles to see real pay growth.
Advice to Management: Rethink salary bands for mid-level roles. We're losing good people because the pay isn't competitive with the market, especially in the tech side of educational publishing.

Hybrid Model is Okay, Not Great Yet
Pros: I do like that they offer a hybrid work arrangement. It's nice to have some work from home days, especially for my role creating educational content. The Columbus, OH office is pretty good too for the in-person days.
Cons: The flexibility isn't really flexible. You're usually stuck with specific days in the office, which can be tough. For a big corporate company in EdTech, I'd expect more freedom for digital learning solutions roles.
Advice to Management: Consider allowing teams more autonomy to decide their hybrid schedules. True flexibility would really help morale and attract top talent for future digital content roles.
