Culture's Evolving for Offshore Engineering
Pros: You get to work on some truly massive FPSO projects, which is awesome for learning. As a Process Engineer, I've gained solid experience in offshore production systems. There's good job security here in Singapore, especially within the industry.
Cons: The corporate culture can feel a bit rigid and bureaucratic. Decision-making often takes too long, which impacts project timelines. Work-life balance isn't great, it's pretty common to work long hours to meet deadlines.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into streamlining processes. Empower teams to make quicker decisions on FPSO projects. It would improve morale and overall project efficiency for us in engineering.

Okay balance for offshore production, but it gets busy.
Pros: The team here is really solid, and I've learned a ton about offshore production systems. As a Project Engineer, the projects are interesting, and there's good technical depth. When things are calm, the work-life balance is actually pretty decent for an engineering role.
Cons: It's tough during project deadlines. Expect long hours and staying late, especially for big FPSO projects. Work-life balance really suffers then, and it's mostly an onsite role in the Singapore office, so flexibility is limited.
Advice to Management: Try to manage project workloads better. More resources during crunch times would really help with employee burnout.

Leadership Needs to Step Up Their Game
Pros: Working on complex FPSO projects is really engaging as a Marine Engineer. There's solid exposure to the offshore oil and gas industry, and the benefits package is pretty decent for a large corporate. You get to tackle some tough marine engineering challenges.
Cons: Leadership can feel out of touch with what's happening on the ground. Decisions take forever to get approved, and there's not enough clear communication from upper management. It's frustrating when you're trying to push critical designs and face constant roadblocks.
Advice to Management: Managers really need to improve their communication, especially with teams on the ground in the Singapore office. Be more transparent with project timelines and empower your engineers more. Listen to the marine engineering specialists, we know what's practical.

Culture is okay in Singapore office
Pros: The team spirit among my direct colleagues in the Singapore office was really solid. We worked hard on complex offshore production systems, and people were generally supportive. There's a decent chance to learn from experienced folks, which is good for your career as a Process Engineer.
Cons: It's a very hierarchical corporate culture, so decision-making can be slow. Sometimes it felt like micromanagement. Work-life balance suffers because expectations for hours can be high, especially during project crunch times. Not much work flexibility.
Advice to Management: Management needs to trust their teams more and streamline decision processes. Give employees more autonomy and recognize effort beyond just project completion. Improve work-life balance initiatives.

Solid Company, but Always Evolving
Pros: Working as a Naval Architect here, I've found a decent level of stability in the offshore oil and gas sector. MODEC handles big FPSO projects, so there's usually work. It's a big corporate player in the marine engineering space.
Cons: However, there have been a lot of internal restructures lately in the Singapore office. Sometimes it feels like roles shift, which makes job security a bit less certain. You can feel like you're always adapting to new setups.
Advice to Management: Try to communicate internal changes more clearly and give employees a better sense of their long-term path. It's tough when you feel like you're always in flux.

Tough Work-Life Balance in Offshore Engineering
Pros: It's a really stable corporate environment in Singapore. You get to work on massive FPSO projects, which is solid experience for anyone in the oil & gas industry. The pay is decent for the long hours you put in here.
Cons: Work-life balance as a Senior Process Engineer is often challenging. You're frequently expected to work long hours, especially when projects are hitting critical deadlines. There's not much work flexibility; it's mostly onsite in the Singapore office.
Advice to Management: Recognize the long hours and try to staff projects better to prevent burnout. More focus on employee well-being would go a long way.
