Work-life balance is a real push for sales
Pros: I've learned a ton about construction tools and project management. The team in the Singapore office is generally supportive. There's some flexibility with a hybrid model if you manage your territory well.
Cons: Work-life balance can be a struggle, especially for field sales roles. Long hours are common, and clients often need on-site support outside 9-5. It's tough to really switch off.
Advice to Management: Recognize the pressure on field sales engineers. More resources or better territory planning could really help improve work-life balance.

Stable, but career growth is a slow climb
Pros: Being a Field Engineer here means you get solid exposure to the construction industry. There's decent job security, and I learned a lot hands-on at various onsite projects.
Cons: But career progression feels really sluggish. It's hard to move up the ladder, even if you want to take on more specialized technical roles. There isn't always a clear pathway for internal advancement, which gets frustrating.
Advice to Management: Management needs to put more effort into creating clearer career paths, especially for those in the field. It would help a lot if there were more defined opportunities for professional development and promotions beyond just lateral moves.

Leadership can be a mixed bag here
Pros: The team culture among fellow Field Engineers in the Singapore office is actually pretty solid; we all help each other out. There's decent job security since Hilti's a big player in the construction tools industry. Plus, the pay and benefits package is generally competitive for our direct sales model.
Cons: Leadership is really hit or miss, especially at the middle management level. It feels like some leaders just focus on hitting short-term targets, not on developing their teams or communicating strategy well. This inconsistency makes it tough for Field Engineer roles to see clear career paths sometimes.
Advice to Management: Focus more on developing consistent leadership skills across all levels. Better communication from the top down would really help, especially regarding long-term vision beyond just quarterly sales goals. Invest in leadership training that emphasizes employee engagement.
