Decent starting point, but not much career path
Pros: It's a solid place to learn the ropes of technical recruiting, especially if you're new to the energy sector. The team in the Houston office was generally supportive, which helped a lot when I was starting out. You get decent autonomy as a Recruiter.
Cons: Career growth isn't really a thing here. There's no clear path for moving from an entry-level recruiting role to something more senior. Promotion opportunities felt super limited, mostly about hitting numbers, not actual skill development.
Advice to Management: Management should really put some thought into creating clear career progression plans for junior roles. It's hard to stay when you don't see how you can grow beyond your current position and keep getting stuck in the same kind of work.

Leadership could really use some work here
Pros: I liked working with my direct team; we were pretty collaborative. We had some solid clients in the energy sector, which kept things interesting as a recruiter. The pay for technical recruiting was decent for the Houston, TX market.
Cons: Leadership is pretty disconnected from day-to-day operations. There's not much clear direction for the recruiting team, leading to a lot of wasted effort. It's frustrating when management changes strategy constantly without good communication for the staffing industry.
Advice to Management: Try to get more in tune with what's happening on the ground. Provide consistent guidance and listen to your staffing teams; they know what's up with candidates and clients.

Okay place for new recruiters
Pros: The team in the Houston office is pretty solid. I've learned a lot about staffing solutions and different contract roles. It's a decent spot for an entry-level IT Recruiter to get their foot in the door in the staffing industry.
Cons: Work-life balance can be tough sometimes, especially with aggressive sales targets. Management doesn't always provide clear direction, which makes hitting those targets harder. The pay for entry-level roles isn't super competitive, especially compared to bigger tech staffing firms.
Advice to Management: Focus on clearer goal setting and more realistic expectations for junior IT Recruiters. Invest more in training for new staffing solutions, not just sales quotas, to improve overall team morale and company culture.

Decent Work-Life Balance for Recruiters
Pros: The hybrid work option really helps, especially as a Technical Recruiter. You get some flexibility to manage personal stuff. My team in the Houston, TX office is generally supportive.
Cons: Peak times in the staffing industry can mean some really long weeks. It's tough to avoid getting sucked in when you're trying to hit targets. Sometimes it feels like you're always 'on'.
Advice to Management: Help the sales and recruiting teams set more realistic client expectations. It would ease a lot of the pressure on individual contributors trying to hit aggressive goals.
