Assistant Project Engineer

Good Experience for Starters, But Career Path is Slow
Pros: As an Assistant Project Engineer, I got solid onsite experience with big infrastructure projects. It's a great place to learn the ropes in the Hong Kong engineering sector. You'll see a lot of different things.
Cons: Career growth here feels pretty stagnant after a few years. There aren't many opportunities for upward movement, especially for intermediate roles. It's tough to get promoted without someone leaving.
Advice to Management: Management needs to create clearer career progression paths and offer more internal training for promotions. It'd help a lot with retaining talent.

Decent engineering firm, but watch your hours
Pros: You get hands-on experience quickly in building services. There's good mentorship for new electrical engineers. The team in the Hong Kong office is generally supportive.
Cons: Work-life balance is a struggle here. Expect a lot of overtime, especially during project deadlines. It's tough to have a strict 9-5 in this corporate environment.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project loads to reduce mandatory overtime for the engineering teams. A focus on employee well-being would really help retention.

Decent Pay, Benefits Could Be Better
Pros: The salary as a Junior Electrical Engineer is pretty competitive, especially starting out in the Hong Kong market. They do offer annual salary reviews, which is decent. It's a solid base for someone entering the building services industry.
Cons: However, the benefits package isn't great. Health insurance could be way better, and there aren't many extra perks you'd find at other corporate places. Don't expect much work-life balance help through benefits here.
Advice to Management: Focus on boosting benefits, especially for junior staff. Better health coverage and some modern perks would really help with retention in the Hong Kong market. It's a big draw for talent.
