Pros: The base salary for engineering roles in the San Francisco office is decent. I received a pretty solid sign-on bonus too. Annual bonuses are also generally fair if you hit your metrics.
Cons: Health benefits aren't great, especially for families. The 401k match is pretty weak; it's less than what I've seen at other FinTech places. PTO policy feels a bit stingy sometimes.
Advice to Management: Look into enhancing the health insurance plans and increasing the 401k match. Better benefits would definitely boost retention for Software Engineers, especially in this competitive San Francisco market.

Pros: You get to work on some interesting projects as a Software Engineer, which is great for learning. The team in the Seattle office is usually pretty collaborative, so software development can be fun when things are stable.
Cons: Job security is a real concern at MetaComp. There have been several rounds of layoffs, and it feels like your role is always under review. The constant worry about cuts makes the hybrid work environment stressful.
Advice to Management: Management needs to be more transparent about the company's direction and future hiring/layoff plans. People want to feel secure in their jobs, not constantly on edge.
