Leadership needs to step up, especially for tech roles
Pros: It's cool to work in music technology, building tools for creators. As a Junior Software Engineer, I learned a lot from my immediate team members in the Singapore office. The hybrid model was also pretty flexible sometimes.
Cons: Leadership often felt disconnected from daily operations. There's a lack of clear career paths for engineering roles, which makes growth feel uncertain. Project goals would shift a lot, causing frustration in this startup environment.
Advice to Management: Work on providing more consistent vision from senior leadership. Create clear development plans for tech roles. Encourage more open communication channels between management and individual contributors.

Decent pay for music tech, but benefits are just okay.
Pros: The pay itself is competitive for the music technology industry in Singapore. As a Software Engineer, my base salary was pretty fair, hitting around S$75k. You also get standard health insurance, which is decent.
Cons: Don't expect top-tier benefits; it's pretty basic, without many flashy perks or great bonuses. If you're comparing pay and benefit to bigger tech companies, it just doesn't stack up. There isn't much in terms of additional compensation.
Advice to Management: Management should really look into better benefits beyond just base salary. More attractive perks and clear paths for pay increases would definitely help keep good tech talent.

Okay Flexibility, But There Are Caveats
Pros: The company offers a decent hybrid model, usually 2-3 days a week from the Singapore office. It's nice to have some Work From Home (WFH) options, especially for focused coding tasks. This flexibility is a solid perk for most engineering teams.
Cons: True work-life balance can still be a challenge despite the hybrid setup. Sometimes, despite WFH, you're expected to be online late. It's not always genuinely flexible for every urgent project in the music tech space.
Advice to Management: Really commit to the hybrid model without hidden expectations for evening work. Encourage managers to respect WFH boundaries for the engineering teams. True flexibility helps morale a lot.
