Hybrid Model Isn't Always a Reality
Pros: There's a stated hybrid work policy, which is decent on paper. Some administrative roles can actually use it for a day or two WFH each week. It's good for certain desk-based tasks and gives a little breathing room.
Cons: For Research Scientist roles, true work flexibility is tough to get. Lab work in the Singapore office often means you're onsite daily. Can't really do much remote work when you're running experiments; it limits your options.
Advice to Management: Management should really look at how to support more flexible schedules for R&D staff, especially in our biotech startup environment. Even small changes, like staggered hours for certain non-lab tasks, would help with the overall work-life balance.

Decent learning, but career path can be foggy.
Pros: I've gained valuable experience in molecular diagnostics and cutting-edge lab techniques. The exposure to different projects is great for any Research Scientist wanting to build diverse skills.
Cons: However, a clear career growth path is hard to find here. Promotions for roles like Research Scientist seem really slow, and it's tough to see defined advancement opportunities within this biotech startup.
Advice to Management: Need clearer career development plans, especially for scientific staff. Help Research Scientists see a path forward for their expertise.
