Software Engineer

Job security is a real concern right now
Pros: The actual engineering work is often pretty engaging, and I've picked up some great skills in the SaaS industry. Plus, our hybrid model offers decent flexibility if you're working remotely or in the San Francisco office.
Cons: Job security is definitely low here. We've seen a few rounds of layoffs recently, which makes everyone nervous. It's hard to feel safe in your role as a Software Engineer.
Advice to Management: Be more transparent with employees about company stability. The constant fear of layoffs is hurting morale and productivity across all tech roles.

Okay for software engineers, but watch out for crunch.
Pros: The pay is solid, especially for big tech in San Francisco. I've found that for software engineer roles, the base salary and benefits package are really competitive. They do offer a hybrid work model, which is nice.
Cons: Work-life balance can get tough, especially during project deadlines. It's not uncommon for engineers to pull 50+ hour weeks then. There's sometimes an expectation to be always 'on', even with the hybrid setup.
Advice to Management: Really try to protect personal time during crunch periods. Management should push for better resource allocation so teams aren't constantly overwhelmed.
