Pretty Solid Job Security at a Luxury Resort
Pros: I felt pretty secure as a Guest Services Associate here. The luxury hospitality industry in Phuket, Thailand is quite stable. Rosewood as a brand helps that a lot. Turnover isn't super high, which is good.
Cons: While my role felt secure, internal promotions for resort management weren't always clear. Sometimes changes in the tourism sector made me wonder, but it usually bounced back fine. It's not a place for rapid career jumps.
Advice to Management: Focus on clear career paths for associates to retain talent long-term.

Flexibility is tough in hotel ops roles here
Pros: Some departments, like corporate admin, might have better hours. For luxury hospitality in Phuket, the staff benefits like discounted stays are pretty decent. You meet a lot of interesting guests from all over.
Cons: As a Front Office Agent, don't expect much work flexibility. Swapping shifts is really hard to arrange, even for emergencies. It's mostly fixed schedules, and hotel operations demand a lot of onsite time, so WFH isn't an option.
Advice to Management: Try to implement a more flexible system for shift swaps and consider more advanced scheduling software. It would really help staff morale for those in direct guest-facing roles.

Long hours, tough on work-life balance
Pros: It's a really beautiful place to work, the Rosewood Phuket property is stunning. You get to interact with interesting guests from all over, which can be fun for a hospitality role. The team generally gets along, which helps on long shifts.
Cons: Work flexibility? Not really a thing for Guest Services roles. You're always onsite, doing 10-12 hour shifts, especially in peak season. It's a corporate environment, so schedules are pretty rigid; don't expect much remote work or shift swapping. This makes work-life balance super tough here in Phuket, Thailand.
Advice to Management: Consider more flexible scheduling options for onsite staff, even if it's just allowing for more consistent days off or predictable shift patterns. It would really help reduce burnout in the luxury resort industry.
