Software Engineer

Work-life balance is okay, but challenging.
Pros: For remote roles, there's decent flexibility for personal appointments, which is a big plus. Sometimes, as a Software Engineer, I could stick to solid 40-hour weeks. The WFH setup in Austin, TX really helps some days.
Cons: Work-life balance here is a real struggle for many, especially during project launches. I often felt pressure to work late as a Software Engineer, making it tough to disconnect. It's a mid-sized company, so resources feel stretched thin sometimes.
Advice to Management: Management really needs to focus on setting clearer boundaries for work hours. Stop encouraging constant overtime for Software Engineer roles, it burns people out. Respecting personal time would go a long way.

Decent job security in the solar energy sector.
Pros: As a Project Engineer, I've found the work stable, even with market changes in the solar energy industry. The Singapore office has a pretty consistent project pipeline, which helps with feeling secure.
Cons: Sometimes, changes happen at the corporate level that feel sudden, leading to some uncertainty. There aren't always clear explanations for headcount adjustments, which can be tough.
Advice to Management: Improve communication about strategic changes, especially those impacting teams. Give employees more transparency on company direction.
