Pros: As a Junior Software Engineer here, I did learn a lot on my own. There are opportunities to jump on new projects if you show initiative. For a mid-sized tech company, the yearly performance reviews are solid for feedback.
Cons: Formal career growth paths aren't always clear, especially if you're aiming for senior roles. Working remote from Seattle, I often felt a bit disconnected from training opportunities. It's a lot of self-study if you want to advance in the core software development stack.
Advice to Management: Invest more in structured career development programs and a clearer path for junior engineers. Provide a dedicated budget for external training and certifications.

Pros: The team in the Austin, TX office is genuinely great, which helps a lot. There's also some decent work flexibility; as a Software Engineer, you can often WFH a couple of days if your project allows. Perks are okay.
Cons: Work-life balance here is pretty tough for a tech startup. Expect a lot of long hours, especially when those tight project deadlines hit. It's hard to really disconnect, and the workload for Software Engineer roles can be crazy.
Advice to Management: Please try to manage project scopes more realistically and encourage employees to truly log off. The constant 'on-call' feeling is draining for a lot of us.
