Account Executive

Okay for some, tough for others
Pros: The benefits are pretty solid, and the pay as an Account Executive in the media industry isn't bad. You get good training when you start, which is a plus. Some teams have a decent hybrid model, but it's not universal.
Cons: Work flexibility really depends on your manager and department; it's not consistent across the board. Many of us are still mostly onsite in the Baltimore office, even when our work could be done remotely. This lack of a standard hybrid policy is frustrating for folks trying to balance life.
Advice to Management: Seriously consider a more consistent and flexible hybrid work policy for all roles, especially where onsite isn't truly necessary. It would boost morale a lot.

Okay for now, but culture needs work
Pros: You get solid benefits and the pay for content creation roles is pretty competitive, especially for a large corporate environment. WFH flexibility is a huge plus, makes the daily grind easier. They have a good reputation in the broadcasting industry, which helps.
Cons: The company culture feels really old-school and hierarchical. There's not much room for new ideas from people like me. It's hard to get your voice heard or make a real impact on projects.
Advice to Management: Seriously consider modernizing the company culture. Give digital teams more autonomy and listen to fresh perspectives from your younger employees. It'll help with retention.

Solid place if job security is your main thing
Pros: The best part about working for this established media company is the stability. As a Software Engineer, I never really worried about sudden layoffs, which is huge these days. It's a reliable place for remote employees, especially living in Texas.
Cons: On the flip side, things can feel pretty slow-moving. There isn't much opportunity for rapid career growth or working on bleeding-edge tech. Sometimes it feels like there's just not enough new work to do.
Advice to Management: Try to bring in more challenging projects for the tech teams. It would help retain talent and keep engineers engaged.

Culture needs work, but teams are solid
Pros: The best part is definitely the people on your immediate team, especially as an Associate Software Engineer. They're usually super supportive and collaborative. We have a pretty solid hybrid work setup here at this big tech company in Austin, TX.
Cons: The overall company culture can feel a bit old-school and hierarchical. There's not always a lot of transparency from upper management on decisions affecting the whole engineering department. It's tough to feel truly connected sometimes, especially for newer folks.
Advice to Management: Focus more on open communication across all levels, not just top-down. Actively solicit and implement feedback to build a more inclusive culture for everyone, from new hires to senior staff in the Austin, TX office.
