Pros: You learn a lot really fast working with cutting-edge AI solutions. The work is challenging and keeps you on your toes. For an AI startup, they do try to keep things somewhat transparent with upcoming projects.
Cons: Job security isn't great, honestly. There have been several rounds of layoffs for technical roles since I joined, which makes everyone pretty nervous. As a Software Engineer, you sometimes feel like your project could get cut anytime without much warning.
Advice to Management: Try to be more upfront about company performance and future plans. Reducing the frequency of layoffs would greatly improve morale and retention for your Software Engineers.

Pros: I liked the team a lot, everyone's really smart and dedicated. They offer a hybrid model, so you get some WFH days which is a huge plus for a Software Engineer trying to manage personal stuff. The Austin, TX office itself is pretty modern and has good amenities.
Cons: It's definitely a startup environment, so you're often expected to put in more than 40 hours a week. Especially around big deadlines for smart home tech releases, it's tough to really disconnect. There's sometimes subtle pressure to answer messages late in the evening.
Advice to Management: Try to set clearer boundaries for after-hours communication. It would help engineering teams feel less burnout. Consider implementing 'no meeting' days to help people focus.
