Work Schedule is Okay for Baristas
Pros: I liked that as a Barista, you could often find someone to swap shifts with. It helps a lot for personal appointments. For coffee retail, the flexibility is about what you'd expect, especially for onsite roles.
Cons: The biggest issue is how often schedules change at the last minute. This makes planning tough. Getting weekends off in coffee shop operations can also be a real struggle.
Advice to Management: Try to make the schedules more predictable. It would really help staff manage their personal lives better and reduce stress.

Pay is Just Okay for Fore Coffee Baristas
Pros: You do get paid on time, which is something. For a barista in the coffee industry, the basic salary is pretty standard for Jakarta. We also got free coffee during shifts, which was a nice little perk.
Cons: The base pay really isn't enough to live comfortably on, especially with the cost of living here. Benefits are pretty minimal too; health insurance isn't great. No performance bonuses for onsite staff, which felt like a missed opportunity.
Advice to Management: Consider raising the base pay for entry-level roles and adding more comprehensive health benefits for all staff. A bonus structure could really motivate your onsite teams.

Shift work can be tricky in the coffee industry
Pros: They do try to accommodate time-off requests sometimes if you ask way in advance. If you're looking for part-time work, it's okay for students with limited hours. The team at my Jakarta store location was usually really solid.
Cons: Getting real work flexibility as a full-time barista is tough, especially during peak hours. You can't just swap shifts easily. This type of constant shift work makes planning personal stuff a real headache and hits your work-life balance.
Advice to Management: Try to offer more predictable scheduling or implement a clearer, more flexible shift-swapping system for baristas. It would really help with employee morale.

Okay for a bit, but work-life balance is tough
Pros: I liked the people I worked with; the team at my Jakarta outlet was solid. It's a decent entry into the F&B industry for students or fresh grads. You learn a lot about coffee shop operations quickly.
Cons: The work-life balance for a Barista is pretty rough. You get inconsistent shifts, often working early mornings or late nights. Planning anything outside of work is really hard because your schedule changes so much.
Advice to Management: Try to offer more stable and predictable shift schedules for your Barista teams. It would help improve morale and make it easier for staff to manage their lives outside work.
