Material Handling Technician

Solid job security for technicians in Portland
Pros: I've been here a while as a Material Handling Technician, and job security is pretty solid. It's a big, family-owned company, so they're not quick to cut staff. Even during slower periods, I haven't seen major layoffs, which is good in the heavy equipment sector.
Cons: The pay increases can be slow, especially without promotions. Sometimes the workload feels uneven, which can make you question things, but they always have work for us onsite technicians. Career growth isn't always clear cut.
Advice to Management: Work on clearer paths for career growth and provide more consistent feedback for employees. Also, review the pay scales to ensure they're competitive for experienced technicians in the Portland market.

Pay is okay, benefits could be better
Pros: As a Service Technician, the hourly pay rate was pretty fair for this industry. They've got a decent 401k match, which is solid for entry-level roles.
Cons: Health insurance premiums are super high, makes it tough to use. It feels like the pay for experienced technicians could be more competitive in the Portland, OR market.
Advice to Management: Review the health insurance plans to make them more affordable for employees. Also, make sure technician salaries stay competitive with other heavy equipment companies in the region.

Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Stable Job, Pay Is Just Okay for Mechanics
Pros: The pay is reliable here, you always know what you're getting. For a heavy equipment mechanic, the hourly wage is competitive for the industrial equipment industry in the Pacific Northwest. Health insurance benefits are decent, which is a big plus.
Cons: Raises don't really keep up with the cost of living in Portland, OR. It's tough to move up in pay without changing roles entirely, there isn't much wiggle room for experienced diesel mechanics. The 401k match isn't great compared to other large distributors.
Advice to Management: Look into improving the 401k match and create a clearer path for pay increases for tenured mechanics. It would help retain talent in this competitive industrial equipment market.
