Supportive Leadership and Great Team in Hospitality
Pros: I've really enjoyed my time as a Guest Services Associate at Renaissance Hotels. The leadership here, especially my direct managers, are genuinely supportive and really invest in their teams. There are great opportunities to learn new skills in the hospitality industry, and I appreciate the emphasis on guest experience. The team spirit is fantastic, and the employee travel discounts are a huge perk working for such an international brand. It makes the daily work engaging and rewarding.
Cons: While it's a great place to work, the hospitality industry can be demanding. We definitely have some very busy periods, especially during peak season or large events, which can impact work-life balance a bit. Also, while there are career growth paths, sometimes internal promotion can feel a little slow depending on the department or specific hotel location. It's not a deal-breaker, but something to be aware of if you're looking for rapid advancement.
Advice to Management: Continue to foster strong leadership development programs and perhaps explore ways to streamline internal promotion paths across different departments to encourage faster career progression for dedicated associates.

Decent Flexibility for a Corporate Hotel
Pros: I liked that they usually let us do shift swaps with other Front Desk Agents, which is a big plus in the hospitality industry. It helped when I needed to schedule appointments, and management was generally okay about approving these.
Cons: True work flexibility is hard to come by for onsite work like ours. You're usually stuck to your set schedule in the Miami, FL hotel. Don't expect to work remote; it's not that kind of corporate hotel chain job.
Advice to Management: Keep promoting shift swaps and maybe explore more predictable scheduling for hotel operations staff. It'd really help with morale for those in frontline roles.

Fixed Schedules, Not Much Flexibility
Pros: The set shifts mean you know exactly when you're working. It helps a lot with personal planning outside of work. They also have decent benefits for a big hotel chain.
Cons: Work flexibility is really tough here in the hotel industry. As a Front Desk Agent in Chicago, you're always onsite. Swapping shifts is a headache, and remote work isn't an option, obviously.
Advice to Management: Try to make shift swapping easier for the team. It would boost morale and help with retention, especially for essential onsite roles like guest services.
