Software Engineer

Pay is okay, but benefits need work
Pros: The base salary for a Software Engineer here was pretty solid. I felt fairly compensated for my day-to-day work in the financial technology space. They do offer a decent 401k match after a year, which is a plus.
Cons: Health insurance options weren't great, and the premiums were high for what you got. There wasn't much in terms of performance bonuses or equity, which is common in other mid-sized corporate companies. PTO accrual was also a bit slow.
Advice to Management: Look into improving the health benefits and offering more competitive bonus structures. It would really help with retention for technical roles.

Pay is Decent, Benefits Need Work Here
Pros: As a Software Engineer in the San Francisco office, the base salary is pretty competitive for this role. It's a mid-sized tech company, and they generally keep up with market rates for compensation. You won't feel totally underpaid here.
Cons: The health benefits package isn't great, pretty standard and not much beyond the basics. Stock options or a clear bonus structure for individual contributors are vague or non-existent. It's not a place to get rich quick.
Advice to Management: Look into improving the health benefits package and creating a more transparent bonus or equity program for all employees, not just leadership. It would really help with retention in this competitive tech industry.

Job security isn't its strong suit
Pros: The pay and benefits are decent, definitely competitive for a financial analyst role. You get to work on some pretty interesting investment portfolio projects, which is a good learning experience. It's a fast-paced environment, so you're always busy.
Cons: Job security is a real problem here. There's always talk about restructuring, and layoffs happen without much warning for investment operations roles. It makes it hard to feel stable or plan for the future in this corporate setting.
Advice to Management: Management needs to be more transparent about the company's future and any potential workforce changes. Better communication about job security would help reduce employee stress and improve morale.

Work-life balance is decent but watch out for crunch
Pros: They do offer decent remote work options, which is a huge plus for someone in a tech role like mine. You generally aren't expected to work crazy long hours on a day-to-day basis, especially when things are calm.
Cons: However, when big project deadlines hit, expect some late nights and weekend work. It's tough to consistently maintain good work-life balance in the Austin, TX office during these periods. The workload for software engineers can become unpredictable.
Advice to Management: Try to plan projects with more realistic timelines to avoid last-minute crunch. Support managers in protecting their teams' evenings and weekends.

Leadership here is a real mixed bag
Pros: Some senior managers are genuinely helpful when you're learning. As a Junior Portfolio Manager, you can pick up solid investment strategies from your direct team. It's a decent place to get finance industry experience in the New York City office.
Cons: Upper leadership feels pretty disconnected from daily operations. They make big calls that affect us without much explanation. This lack of clear direction really makes things tough sometimes.
Advice to Management: Get more involved with the teams. Share the 'why' behind big decisions, especially for the investment team. Better communication would go a long way.

Okay start for engineers, but growth is slow
Pros: The initial training for new grads is pretty solid. You learn the ropes for basic web development projects. Pay is okay for an entry-level position, especially in the Dallas office.
Cons: Upward mobility is tough for Software Engineering roles. There isn't a clear path to move from junior to mid-level quickly, and internal promotions are rare. The hybrid setup means mentorship for junior developers isn't always consistent.
Advice to Management: Focus on creating more defined career ladders and actual internal promotion opportunities for technical staff. Improve mentorship programs, especially for junior developers in the hybrid model.

Hybrid Model is Okay, Needs Some Tweaks
Pros: The hybrid work setup at Oneness Holdings is good in theory. As a Software Developer, I like that I'm not in the Dallas office every single day. It helps a lot with my personal errands, especially in the financial services industry where office hours can be long.
Cons: True flexibility isn't really there, though. We have set days we *have* to be in, even when there's no real reason to. It feels more like a corporate environment trying to do hybrid than actually being flexible. Sometimes I'd prefer to just WFH.
Advice to Management: Consider offering more autonomy on hybrid days or allowing teams to decide their in-office schedule. True flexibility would make a big difference for us developers.

Leadership has some strong points, but needs work
Pros: You learn a lot in financial services, especially about portfolio management. There are some really smart senior leaders in the New York City office who are great mentors if you can get their attention and they prioritize new talent.
Cons: The leadership team overall feels a bit disconnected. It's tough to get clear direction, and sometimes it feels like priorities shift without much warning, which is frustrating as an Investment Analyst.
Advice to Management: Try to be more visible and provide clearer strategic goals. Consistent communication from the top would help everyone, especially junior roles navigating the large holding company structure.

Pay is Decent, Benefits Could Improve
Pros: As a Financial Analyst, my base salary was pretty solid for New York City. We also usually got a decent annual bonus, which helped. The direct compensation here isn't bad for a corporate environment.
Cons: The benefits package really isn't competitive, especially the health insurance premiums. The 401k match is pretty low, so I felt like I was losing out there. For a big company, you'd expect better perks.
Advice to Management: Please take a serious look at improving the benefits package, especially the health insurance and 401k matching. It would make a huge difference in employee retention for all roles, not just financial analyst positions.

Oneness Holdings: Decent Pay, Tough Hours
Pros: The pay and benefits are solid for the finance industry. You learn a ton quickly, which is great for career growth in the NYC office. Some colleagues are really supportive, making long days a bit easier.
Cons: Work-life balance is pretty bad. As a Financial Analyst, I'm often doing 60+ hour weeks, sometimes more during quarterly reports. It's an onsite role mostly, so hybrid work isn't really an option here. Management expects constant availability.
Advice to Management: Management really needs to rethink the expectations around working hours. Burnout is real, especially for junior Financial Analyst roles. Offer more work flexibility or at least acknowledge the long hours.
