Pros: For a mid-sized engineering company, the pay isn't bad. When things are calm, you can actually leave on time. It's nice not being expected to work weekends on non-critical project deadlines. The team environment for Project Engineers is usually supportive.
Cons: Work-life balance can go out the window during crunch times. As a Project Engineer, I've had weeks hitting 60 hours when close to a client delivery. It's tough when you're caught between client demands and internal resources, especially on complex engineering projects in the Kuala Lumpur office.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project loads and client expectations. It'd help Project Engineers avoid those intense 60-hour weeks. More consistent staffing for new engineering projects could really improve morale and work-life balance.
