Okay Flexibility for Engineering Work

Pros: I've been able to occasionally adjust my hours, which is a big deal in the electronics industry, especially for an onsite role like mine. It's not a full hybrid model for engineers, but supervisors are usually understanding if you need to come in a bit later or leave early sometimes for appointments. There's definitely job stability here.
Cons: The main issue is that real work flexibility, like proper remote work, isn't really an option for us as electrical engineers. We're expected to be onsite most days, which makes personal life stuff a bit tricky. Approval for flexible hours feels more like a favor than a policy, and it can be inconsistent depending on your manager.
Advice to Management: Management should really formalize a flexible work policy for technical roles, even if it's just occasional hybrid days or compressed work weeks. It'd boost morale and help with retention, especially for electrical engineering talent. Show more
