Great Place for Innovation in Green Data Centers
Pros: Submer is a leader in immersion cooling, so you're always working with cutting-edge technology in the green data center space. There are fantastic learning opportunities, especially for a Solutions Architect, interacting with diverse projects and clients. The team is incredibly supportive, collaborative, and genuinely passionate about sustainability. It's rewarding to contribute to solutions that truly make a difference for the environment. You get to see your impact directly.
Cons: Being a fast-growing company in a niche industry, things can sometimes move really quickly, leading to occasional busy periods or rapid shifts in priorities. While the work is engaging, the processes for cross-departmental communication could sometimes be more streamlined as we scale up. This can occasionally make it tricky to get all the information needed without extra effort, but it's improving.
Advice to Management: Continue to invest in formalizing and streamlining internal communication processes as the company scales. This will help maintain efficiency and prevent information silos during periods of rapid growth.

Decent learning, but you drive your own growth
Pros: I've really learned a lot about sustainable data centers and the liquid cooling industry. If you're proactive, you can take on cool projects and expand your skillset. The team in the Barcelona office is pretty solid and supportive.
Cons: Career progression for engineering roles isn't very structured. You kinda have to push hard for new responsibilities or promotions. There aren't many formal development programs for Software Developers, which can be tough.
Advice to Management: Focus on building more defined career ladders for technical staff. Clearly outline what it takes to get to the next level, especially for Software Developers, and offer more internal training opportunities.

Decent Work-Life Balance for a Growing Tech Company
Pros: I liked the flexibility. The hybrid model is a real plus, letting me balance office days in the Barcelona office with working from home. For Firmware Engineer roles, you often get some autonomy on your schedule.
Cons: Sometimes projects for our liquid cooling solutions demand really long hours, especially close to deadlines. It can be hard to disconnect completely, and that eats into personal time more than I'd like.
Advice to Management: Try to better manage project scopes to avoid last-minute crunch times. More predictability in workloads would really help maintain good work-life balance across all teams.
