Solid Place for Engineers in Energy, Good Project Experience
Pros: Working on huge, world-class engineering projects is a major plus; you learn so much. I've gained valuable skills in the energy transition field from experienced colleagues. It's a stable company, and I feel supported by my team. The hybrid work option really helps my work-life balance.
Cons: Career growth can feel a bit slow, so don't expect rapid promotions. There's also a fair amount of bureaucracy and approvals, which can sometimes make project execution a bit sluggish.
Advice to Management: Streamline some of the internal approval processes to increase project execution efficiency, and look into more structured career development paths for mid-level engineers.

Hybrid Model is Okay, But Could Improve
Pros: I appreciate the structured hybrid work model. For us Project Engineers in the Houston, TX office, it's nice to have a couple of WFH days. It helps cut down on the commute and gives some balance for personal errands.
Cons: However, true work-life balance can still be tough, especially during peak EPC projects. The 'flexibility' often means just choosing your onsite days, not much room to shift hours. It's not a fully remote setup if that's what you're looking for in the energy sector.
Advice to Management: Consider allowing more flexible core hours, especially for project teams not directly interfacing with clients daily. True flexibility goes beyond just hybrid days.

Decent Flexibility, But Still A Big Corporate
Pros: I liked the hybrid work option for the Houston, TX office. As a Process Engineer, getting two WFH days a week was a huge plus for my commute and personal appointments. It felt like a real effort to support employee work-life balance for those in engineering roles.
Cons: Sometimes project deadlines in the oil and gas projects made those WFH days pretty stressful, almost like you were just working from home instead of having true flexibility. There's not much wiggle room beyond the standard hybrid schedule for this big corporate.
Advice to Management: Try to make the hybrid model truly flexible, especially during crunch times on big energy sector projects. Sometimes, it feels like WFH is just a change of scenery, not a break.
